Shower block plenty of showers but for some reason half of them were locked down despite site being busy.

Grey waste awkward to drive over for large vehicles causing issues for exiting site.

Facilities were fantastic, wet room showers, comprising of shower, shower seat, sink and toilet. Comfortable Lounge room with a good selection of toys, games and books. Dishwasher area separate laundry and an loo adjacent. All felt new and very clean. Friendly staff

We loved this site. It had everything and most was inside. Lovely lounge. It has the best wash rooms we've seen in any site. All self contained, shower, loo and wash basin.The big sports centre Picaquoy was just across the road which did snacks and Sunday breakfast. parkrun is just across the road as well! 3 supermarkets next to each other 5 mins walk and the town and cathedral 15.

The piece definitely resistance has to be the warden, Emily! She's a mine of information on nature and her love of the islands shows no bounds.

Only thing was trying to get into the first pitch at night was not very easy and the grass got a bit chewed up on the edges. Sorry!

We only stayed for one night to meet up with friends for dinner so we didn’t have much chance to use all of the facilities. Our pitch was great with plenty of space and close to all we needed and the showers were spacious with plenty of hot water. This is a gem of a place with easy walking distance to the shops and close to the ferry terminal. Clean amenities site and easy to use facilities. We arrived on a particularly blustery and cold, late night, but no issues getting in and setting up. Will definitely use again....Read less.

Only negatitive was the laundry on site.

Washing machine is £5 but clothes came out soaking wet - no fast spin cycle to drain most of water from clothes.

Tumble dryers (are a joke!!) £5 for 30mins . Clothes still soaking. Another £10 for 1hour dry time and still clothes were wet!! £15 spent for 1.5hrs drying time = wet clothes

No warden on site in the afternoon to complain to and or refund money. Departed as planned the following morning to continue holiday so no chance to see warden

A very welcoming site in a great location. Easy to walk to the centre of Kirkwall for the cathedral and museum. Also only a short walk to Tesco to stock up on provisions. Pitch up on the hill so great views and away from the road but whole site is very quiet at night. Very dog friendly with the grassy area opposite and plenty of dog waste facilities. Individual shower rooms were fine and functional. Staff very helpful when I had an issue with EHU (there is an additional on switch after plug in) and kindly walked over to help me! I stayed here three times over a two week period of visiting Orkney. Location for Tesco, Lidl and good dog walking park, not to mention very close to ferry . Swimming pool and cinema Next Door as well!immaculately kept and very friendly & helpful warden, all made my visits exceedingly pleasant.

The campsite is reasonably priced and that was my primary reason initially to visit-I am reluctant to stay at campsite penalise me for being a solo traveller by charging for two as a minimum. I would prefer not to pay a fixed £5 price for the dryer, however the provision of airers was appreciated....Read less.

This is a great stop over with extremely clean facilities. The showers are a great size for washing kids and have toilets and sinks incorporated to make bedtime easy.

Tesco, CoOp and Lidl within 5 mins walk with a play park and large recreational park next door.

Also great spot for the town centre and cloae to a free carpark if wanting to travel use as a stop over and travel on. We stopped here twice as we toured the east and west parts of the island....Read less.

We had a comfortable stay in the lodgr. It's was warm and comfortable.

It's not winning any prizes for home decor or style but that's not what the place is about. If you want a cheap, clean, functional and comfortable place to sleep as a base for exploring with no frills then this is perfect.

The showers and toilets are accessible 24hs via a keypad. Make sure you make note of the code and star the. Email with the three entry codes on for the gate, key box and facilities when you get it.

If the weather is bad you can walk across to the incredible pickaquoy centre and use the cinema, swimming pool, gym, cafe, courts, fitness classes, climbing wall, athletics track at very reasonable prices.

Tesco and Lidl in walking distance. Saturday parkrun is literally over the road (starts later than England at 9:30am)

Staff are friendly and helpful. If there is no one at reception the staff also work at the Pickaquoy so you can pop over there to speak to them.

Excellent facilities, We love the all-in-one bathrooms, ie toilet, sink and shower. There is also a kitchen and laundry (bit expensive) and a very nice lounge. Very short walk to town and an even shorter walk to Tesco and Lidl and Coop.

The site is well maintained, excellent facilities, including a lounge to use. Being a few minutes walk from a supermarket was a bonus and a short walk into Kirkwall centre was perfect. The upper levels tour of the cathedral with guide Melba was fascinating and we recommend doing this.

We arrived at midnight and found our pitch easily, we ventured into the facilities in the morning to find well maintained showers and toilets,we used the washing machines and tumble driers which helped as we had an overstay due to ferry cancellations.The pitch was close to amenities which helped with mobility issues.

We hit most of the sights before the bad weather set in so it was safer to stay safe.

The town centre is a short walk away and supermarkets are on route. We didn't find what you could say was a local bar only hotel bars....Read less.

On arrival the campsite looked very inviting with well tended grass and level hard standing. As we arrived on a Sunday there was no warden available, so we were unable to drive through the gates. Fortunately another camper directed us to an Arrival notice with a map of the site posted on the side window. We still had to phone for gate codes however as we never received email instructions with the entry codes. If this had been emailed , a day before our visit this would have been helpful.

We found the facilities to be a good standard of cleanliness., and the showers were warm. You do need 20 pences for the hairdryers so come prepared. The washing up facilities were good with several sinks . Fridge, freezer , toaster and kettle were all available too. Campsite was within walking distance of the town, so overall an excellent location but be prepared for the wind! We had to lower our tent when winds reached 50k per hour which was more unusual but it was generally windy during our visit....Read less.

This is a nice site a short distance from Kirkwall town centre and other nearby facilities, eg cinema, ferries to nearby islands. The pitches are a decent size with electric hook up and nearby water taps. The amenity block has single rooms with shower, toilet and sink, there is also a sitting room and cooking facilities. While all the facilities appear to be well maintained, we felt the shower rooms were looking a little dirty as if they needed a better clean each day or even a deep clean, in particular some of the shower floors looked as if they had never been cleaned for sometime, apart from that we think is a nice site at a reasonable price...Read less.

The site is in a very good location for access to the town of Kirkwall, which is a 15 minute walk away. It’s also near the harbour, which is a pretty location to explore. The site itself was very clean and well laid out, with good space around the pitches. I was impressed with the kitchen facilities as well as the information freely available about the island. Easy to find and perfect location for touring around the island. Supermarkets and restaurants are all within walking distance even a Chinese takeaway who will deliver to the site by bicycle. Showers and toilets are clean and warm also the washing area and lounge while you are waiting for your washing to finish. The site and the toilet/lounge ate operated by a code which stops anybody who is not on the site to entry. They also are dog friendly and have an area that you can exercise your dog. Staff were friendly and very helpful with anything to help you with. All in all very nice place to stay and would stay there if we tour Orkneys again....Read less.

I have stayed on this site quite a few times over the years and the team that looks after it work very hard to keep it clean and accessible. The facilities are first rate.

Over the years I have seen a steady increase in camper vans and it is unfortunate that a small number of them don't treat the site with respect - for instance, driving the wrong way on the one way system, leaving washing up, (including knives) lying around. The warden cannot be expected to police such behaviour 24/7 - campsites have always relied on the goodwill of those staying there and I fear behaviour is deteriorating.

This small minority of self entitled users should not put the majority off from staying as you will struggle to find a campsite with better facilities anywhere...Read less.

The site is centrally located and allows easy access to Kirkwall and the rest of the mainland. Generally the site and its environs are clean and tidy. The only issue we had was the cleanliness of the chemical waste disposal point. The disposal point and its surrounds were covered in debris, mostly toilet paper, and during the 5 days we were on site it was never cleaned. This is a health hazard. Having only one warden on site is not enough if they have to deal with queries etc and clean toilets/showers etc. Most sites have two wardens as a minimum. In addition the lack of a warden at night caused some issues particularly as during our visit the door handle on the facility block broke off and the door could not be opened unless forced....Read less.

We stayed at The Orkney Caravan Park for 1 week at the beginning of September. The facilities provided were exceptional - a very comfortable lounge for residents, a kitchen with plenty of sinks and a microwave, a laundry room with use of iron and plenty of showers/toilets. The location was excellent as it was a short walk to the centre of Kirkwall and a Lidl, Tesco and Co-op even closer.

Excellent place to stay, right on the edge of the town centre. Dog walks on your door step. 3 supermarkets within a 5 minute walk. The campsite has level pitches within a walled site. I wAs not sent any information about closing time of reception. On arrival at ,8 pm I found a barrier down. I had no code to enter. Fortunately a fellow camper gave me the code to enter. Then on entering the bathroom facilities I found another code was required

Again a fellow camper helped me out.

I knew where to put the van as I found a list in the office window informing later arrivers of their pitch number.

This was 2nd time we have stayed at site, standards still excellent. close to all amenities. It is an excellent location for our fishing trip with easy access to the local lochs etc.

The only downfall for us travelling from Northern Ireland is the long journey by car, two ferries at considerable cost.It would be great if The cost of flights from either Edinburgh or Glasgow were lower as this would really make us come to Orkney more often ....Read less.

Arrived to camp and pitch originally booked intentionally to accommodate my dog had been changed to a picture in the middle of the campsite. I understand pitch allocations can change but there were no prior warning of this. An hour or possibly longer later, allocated another pitch at which time it was past 9pm. Due to confusion and delay in setting up, dog was unsettled and we were forced to find alternative accommodation for the rest of our visit to Orkney. Which came at a considerable cost. If we knew of pitch change in advance, we would’ve considered alternative arrangements straight away or even considered cancelling our trip as it was the dogs first ferry crossing also. We found Orkney Caravan park lovely & clean. The staff were friendly, the facilities were always kept clean.

Value for money especially for the summertime. The disabled washroom was fantastic for my Husband & the camp pod was just a short walk to this.

The location of the site means it’s just a short walk to the supermarkets, the town centre, bus station, the harbour and the leisure centre.

We stayed in the Grainbank camp pod for 7 nights, a little tricky at times cooking on a budget for family with a microwave but we managed!

Plentiful shower/toilet rooms kept very clean, Pleasant lounge with power and wifi, great washing and laundry facilities neat site, pitches not to crowded together, but sheltered from wind, near town facilities and supermarkets. Priced high, but reasonable given facilities. Only downside poor internet connectivity via campsite wifi at the pitches, either poor private wifi coverage or supply ISP. The location was good for us.

Close to Kirkwall ferry terminal and supermarkets,.to allow us to stock up before we left the mainland to explore the islands.

Facilities were good and very clean. I appreciated having access to a hairdryer.

There was only one issue, and that was that a house backing onto the campsite was having a very loud party which went on until the early hours of the morning. I did feel sorry for the campers who were right next to the house.

I appreciate this could have been just a one off, but I suppose that is a potential risk of having a campsite right next to a residential area. Hopefully it was just a one off and something that isn't happening every weekend....Read less.

Lovely caravan park within walking distance of the high street, supermarkets, pubs, takeaways, and the harbour. The site is lined with trees and fencing, which gives good shelter when it’s windy. While other sites may offer better views, they tend to be more exposed and are further from the villages. Given that Orkney is often windy and rainy, I think the Orkney Caravan Park is the best choice on the island.

Facilities are good, with plenty of shower and toilet cubicles and a comfortable lounge for campers. The outdoor areas are well kept and in excellent condition. The toilet and shower cubicles are serviceable, though a deep clean would improve them. One small drawback is the lack of an on-site shop for caravaning essentials, which would be a welcome addition.

We liked our stay at the Orkney Caravan Park. The issues we had were the very poor Wi-Fi and the lack of bedding provided in the pods. The Wi-Fi did not work in the pods on 3 different devices across the 3 days. Also, similar pod/lodge accommodation is available in other locations in Scotland and bedding and pillows is provided. Having to bring these things from Edinburgh or Glasgow up to Orkney seems unnecessary when it could be provided by the Caravan Park (perhaps at a charge or by increasing the nightly rate) and it would make things a lot easier for your guests....Read less.

We enjoyed our stay at The Orkney Caravan Park. It's difficult for me to comment as we were there during the games which was a very busy time. I don't know how busy it gets normally. The staff were having to work very hard to get everything done during our week there. I felt the shower and toilet rooms were very tired, mould on the shower curtains, wooden casings on the floor level rotten. Laundry facilities are good and the kitchen adequate. Wi-Fi only seemed to work in the amenities block and not around the site. Everyone was very friendly and the location is perfect.
