Had a lovely stay even though the weather wasn’t very good. Beautiful quiet place to just chill out and relax around a campfire. We will definitely stay here again.

Perfect little Pod

Glasby, Matt - 25/04/2024

It's the first time I've stayed in an 'eco-pod' and what a great idea! Everything that comes with camping apart from the faff of putting up and packing away a tent (Plus a comfy bed) The onsite Pizza / Breakfast hut is excellent quality and kept me fed in my stay. There is a small store onsite, with a small selection of essentials too - Very handy. The washrooms / toilets are excellent - Clean and well equipped. As was the pod itself - A Simple, clean and cosy wooden hut with a bed and bench I'll certainly be back!

It was overpriced compared to other sites we have stayed at

Pattillo, Tracy - 13/04/2024

We stayed in the kabina which was ok but we weren’t impressed with the cleanliness, the kitchen worksurface had stains on so we had to clean that and there was lots of dust around the main bed so it hadn’t been swept or hoovered. The site also requests that you strip the bedding before you leave to help them which I found to be a little odd, and when we did that the pillow protectors underneath were dirty and clearly hadn’t been washed.

Response from the owner

13/04/2024

I'm sorry to hear about your experience at Baxby Manor. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the cleanliness issues in the Kabina. We appreciate your feedback regarding the stains on the kitchen worksurface and the dust around the main bed. We will make sure to address these concerns with our housekeeping team to ensure a better experience for future guests. Regarding the request to strip the bedding, we understand that it may seem odd, but it is a common practice in some establishments to expedite the cleaning process and it also helps to maintain our health and safety standars for our housekeepers, which I am sure you can appreciate. However, we apologise for the condition of the pillow protectors and will investigate this matter further. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. We value your feedback and will use it to improve our services.

Beautiful accommodation in a beautiful setting.

Struckmyer, Christine - 07/04/2024

We had the most amazing time at Rufus’s roost. The tree house has everything you could possibly need. Welcome pack on arrival was a lovely touch. We went into York and had a lovely lunch and walk around. We also went to the local pub the plumb and partridge on Easter Sunday and had a really lovely roast. Pizza shack on the camp site was also wonderful. There is a little shop selling milk etc on site and most importantly the local cider, which was really lovely. We all had a really lovely time together as a family. We will definitely return. Thank you for a lovely stay, The Wrights Colchester, Essex

First camping trip, exceeded expectations!

Parker, Lucy - 04/04/2024

I haven’t camped since I was a child but was really excited to experience it again and it was absolutely perfect. We lucked out with stunning weather, a secluded site, a plot near the stream and amazing facilities. We had pizza from the Pizza Shack the first night which was just what we needed after the journey and setting up camp. The next morning we had breakfast and wandered into Husthwaite where we had a beer and burger at the Plum and Partridge. The village was lovely and we had a stroll around, choosing our ideal future home! That night we made our tea and lit a fire, roasted marshmallows and drank hot chocolate. My standout moment from the trip was the stars. The facilities were clean and tidy and really well maintained and all the staff we met were friendly and the little shop was lovely, with lots of essentials including mini jars of hot chocolate and marshmallows. There were even chicks hatching in incubators! Can’t wait to stay in the sanctuary when it is less soggy!

The cleanest campsite

Smith, Caroline - 03/04/2024

We were so glad to be revisiting Baxby Manor; we knew we were in for a relaxing time. The online booking process was very easy and we made a last minute booking for a hoglet home. The accommodation was very clean, as were the showers/toilets (my most favourite part of visiting Baxby Manor). The staff were very accommodating, jumping from pizza shack to shop, as we needed various things. We even got to see the newly-hatched chicks, which were a massive highlight for our children. Our fireplace warmed our holiday home up very quickly - we were very cosy indeed. We made a couple of visits to the park at the end of the drive, provided by the parish council. Also had fabulous food at the very accommodating pub round the corner (Pear and Partridge, which we visited when they shouodn't have been serving food, but they happily cooked for us anyway). We didn't want to leave Baxby Manor...but we'll be back again and would highly recommend!
