My partner and I stayed at the site for 3 nights, it was very well maintained. The staff were all accommodating and friendly, they gave us freedom to pitch where we wanted on the site as we just went......Read more.

There was food vendors on site and a surprisingly well stocked shop by the reception. Obviously it is right across the road from Newgale beach which was stunning, there is fairly easy access to the coast paths too in which you can walk to solva and st David's at a stretch. Also the pointz castle ice cream parlour is about an hour's walk and it has the best ice cream I have ever had.

The pitch was very reasonably priced at £20 per night when we stayed over the early may bank holiday.

My partner and I will definitely be visiting again and would recommend it to anyone....Read less.

Second year in a row camping for the early May Bank Holiday weekend. Such an amazing position right by the beach and I’m easy reach of Solva and St David’s. So lovely to see the familiar faces of the team. Nothing is too much and they even accommodated and facilitated out wish to camp on the top field despite the wet conditions. We've been going to Newgale for well over a decade now. the site can't be beat for location, having the beach a stones throw away is superb. Also, the site is basic but with adequate and clean......Read more.

We were blessed with blue skies and sunshine all day on the Saturday but wet weather on the Sunday. the site however was already sodden from previous bad weather; the worst we've ever experienced. the site owners were reasonably well equipped to deal with this but two camper vans in our group required a good of people power pushing to get them out when it was time to leave. Not sure if something has changed to mean the site is now gathering more water or whether this is just a consequence of climate change and rise sea and groundwater levels....Read less.

Many thanks for the good review! As you say, this season has been the wettest we've known. We've had over 6 months of rain which is exceptional and therefore the water table has been very high. Thankfully, we're now bathed in sunshine and drying out nicely.

Great water sports beach with this basic campsite located next to it the campsite has clean facilities although the 20p for 2mins showers was a bit disappointing. The pub next door is shut due to fire damage so the only facility that was open was a small cafe inside the surf shop. Obviously during the summer months there is a pizza van on-site but you’ll need to drive to Solva or St David’s if you want more choice....Read less.

Many thanks for the review. As per the notices in the facilities block, we make a small charge for showers to prevent campers staying in there all afternoon :)

We have several events planned for bank holidays and weekends throughout the summer so that we will have a licence to have a bar operating on site as well as food vans. The Victoria Inn with it's micro - brewery is a 2 minute drive up the hill to Roch. The owners of the surf shop are soon to open their new café in Newgale so we're all working to ensure there is more choice available.

Stayed for 2nts and have been coming here for 30yrs+. Beach yards away but can be difficult to get over the pebble sea wall. The pub is closed after the fire last yr so bring ur own beers,food etc. It gets boggy if continue to rain so check before you leave as parts can be closed off. Pizza and chip van onsite in peak times. 20p for 2min shower and not much pressure on them so be prepared. Can get real busy at times if the weather is good so best book in online. Staff ok and helpful. All in all a great site just these little things....hence 4☆....Read less.

Thanks for taking the time to review the campsite after your latest visit. As we have always done, we make a small charge for showers to avoid ling queues and the feedback is generally that they are really great showers and clean facilities.

With 6 months of rain over the winter, the site is understandably a bit wet but we're finally starting to dry out. It's been very hard on the staff but we're very pleased to see the sunshine at last.

We are planning a number of events over the season so that we will have a licence to operate a bar on site.

The pebble bank is unfortunately what it is as a natural phenomenon and sea defence so that we can't affect.

We've stayed here before and have not been disappointed with the site, pitches, cleanliness of facilities etc. It was all to a high standard, the only negative was the shower was burning hot when turned on the first time and then went cold and there was no way of turning it up or down. Would be a concern to me if a child had gone to use it but otherwise the site is lovely and we will come again!...Read less.

The site had been flooded the previous week and only hard standing was available. The staff were very friendly and helpful, all the facilities were clean and well maintained.

Unfortunately the site looked uncared for and our hard standing pitch was at the side of an old caravan /trailer and several piles of rubbish, wood etc. There was not sufficient space between our van and the trailer. Space between us and the reception caravan was used as a car park and delivery area. If the weather had been better you could not have sat out and relaxed....Read less.

We're very sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your recent stay with us. As you'll see your low rating of our site is against the norm of mainly 5 stars reviews.

The pitch you were on has been set up as an emergency pitch as so much of our site has been water logged as are many others in the country. We appreciate it was not ideal but we are struggling to make full use of our site at present with the very wet start to the season.

I hope you will come back, perhaps in September when the weather should be good and the site at its best. As per many of our reviews, the over riding feeling is that Newgale Campsite is a very special place and I feel you just didn't see us at our best due to circumstances which were out of our control.

Even in the middle of a horrendous storm(which we did know about and camp site warned us about before we got there) we were comfortable despite the strong winds and rain. It was April which is always......Read more.

Camp site has everything you need and shops not far away. Very, very spotless bathrooms and washing up facilities and friendly welcoming staff.

We had planned to stay longer however the weather had other ideas!

We had electric hook up and water and all worked faultlessly. Good Wi-Fi on site possibly helped by it not being busy due to the weather but yet another plus for this site which is going to be a must to return to in summer for us!

Looks a good spot for windsurfing but I didn’t get a chance to try it out...Read less.

We spent a lovely week at Newgale. The staff were very friendly & helpful & we greeted with smiles. Toilets & showers were spotless. The staff were full of knowledge about the local area & we took trips to St David’s.. Solva…Bosherston Tenby & Broad Haven on their advice. The beach across the road from the site is dog friendly & great for a swim. The coastal path above the beach is also worth a wander for great views. Local pubs The Duke of Edinburgh & The Victoria Inn are definitely worth a visit. The food at The Victoria was amazing. We caught the tail end of an American hurricane while on site & that made our last 36 hours interesting to say the least. Lots of awning pegs & storm straps are recommended if that may be in the cards again. It all added to the holiday adventure though.

Friendly wardens, good toilet and shower block. A bit remote and only found out at the last minute that the pub right next door to the site did not serve food on a Sunday evening, which had been one of the main reasons for staying here. Good location if you are a surfer, or if the weather is good (which it wasn't), otherwise nothing much close by....Read less.

I'm surprised you felt the site was remote. Please feel free to take a look at our "Out & About" section on our website for all the things to do in the area. There is also another pub at the top of the hill in Roch which has it's own micro brewery. In September trading times vary as the area becomes quieter so always best to check in advance and book a table.

The coastal path is on our doorstep as is St David's the smallest city in the UK. With the T11 bus running past the site hourly Monday to Saturday, there is plenty to see and do.

Staff very helpful and didn’t bother you like some site.

Only letdown for us was that on the photo the HUGE banks of pebbles down show up how they really are. Very steep huge pebbles and even steeper on the downward slope to beach . Only a small old sleeper path to beach coming off car park and that is only to to top of the bank of pebbles you still have the trial of traversing the downward slope. Now this is for the young and more fit but fit us it was very difficult because of our age. Ended up having to have my wedding ring cut off at Haverfordwest hospital because of slight accident on pebbles. Would be nice if Pembrokeshire CC could put in a decent path to this magnificent beach, but I understand the high tides could be a p...Read less.

We note your comments, however, we feel these are very unfair.

1 adult in a 9 metre motorhome can stay on our site for £10 per night, an additional £8 would give them an EHU pitch. We provide free WIFI and are located next door to a pub, on the coastal path and 200 metres from the 2 miles of golden sands of Newgale beach.

Signage in the shower block explains that we make a 20p per 2 minute shower to prevent people staying in them for hours and creating long queues.

The mobile phone charging station is an option, again a small charge of £1 for those that have not packed a power pack, it is not compulsory to use it and the alternative is we have 50 phones a day in our small caravan reception running up our already significant electric bill. Our toilet rolls are free and will remain so, this compared to many campsites who don't provide them.

Bizarrely, as we our a business, employing staff and paying large bills, we need to make money. All our charges are on our tariff page on our website so you clearly haven't read that or any signage in the campsite. With this in mind you are right to stay away from our campsite as we prefer not to have your custom.

The campsite is well maintained, clean and the staff was so helpful and friendly. The showers and toilets were regularly cleaned and well looked after as well. Loved the idea of the 20p for 2 mins so wasnt waiting long for showers. Prive per might was great so was fab for a night stay there as well.

The beach was a stone throw away and was absolutely a lovely clean beach with amazing waves for surfing.

We did visit the pub once but was too busy so didn't stop, they could have done with more bar staff as the cue was long for getting drinks but that has no negatively to the campsite at all.

The only negative thing I would say was that when it was dark they could maybe do with a few spot lights scattered around the paths as found it hard to find vehicle but again nothing that a torch wouldn't fix. In all a lovely campsite which is definitely worth a visit....Read less.

The owners Mike & Clare have done a great job of improving what was already a great place and their staff are always so friendly and helpful. The staff at Newgale camp site are amazing, nothing is too much trouble. The camp site is clean, the toilet block is deep cleaned daily, there are signs inside asking you to let staff know if toilet rolls run out or if there are any issues. There are places to charge your phone, refreeze your ice blocks and wash your dishes. They have fire pits to hire and sell the logs at reception as well as marshmallows for toasting on the fire. All bins are clearly labelled and all campers supported the campsite with recyling.

The beach is literally across the road from the camp site but access is difficult for people with mobility issues as you need to climb a mound of pebbles and desend down the other side to get to the beautiful beach and the reverse on the way back but the descent stops on a busy road. The 2 mile long beach is clean and my Grandson loved exploring the rock pools and caves. It's a shame the local council can't find a solution the the accessability problem....Read less.

All really clean. There's an outside shower to rinse off after the beach too, and washing up facilities and a free fridge to put your ice blocks.

We had a generous pitch on flat grass.

We had pizza from the van that is stationed at the campsite and it was lovely. a bit of a wait but worth it when they're making everything to order and by hand and you get to watch the sunset at the same time.

The road going between the capsite and the beach may be of concern to those with smaller wandering children if you're not in control of your kids (or dogs). The campsite (dog friendly bit) is level and accessible, although the beach flood defences consist of a big shingle bank that may not be easy to navigate and may be better going from the carpark....Read less.

A lovely little site in the heart of the west Pembrokeshire coast, if you love the outdoors and the sea this is the place to be. Stunning natural beauty, long walks on the beach or the cliffs, a cosy, family friendly pub with great food right next door. The site is well managed, staff always available, kept clean and safe, dog and child friendly. Facilities are very clean and well maintained. Do save your coins for the showers, but considering the value per night, you won't resent it. Staff are all very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere on site was peaceful and relaxed. I stayed here a few weeks ago with a couple of my friends and I had a lovely time. This was my first camping experience and this campsite did not disappoint. The site is right next to the beach, which is great to run back to after surfing or swimming, the facilities were lovely and very clean, and the staff were lovely.

Our group had a couple changes to the original booking but when we rang the staff were lovely and very helpful. I will definitely be coming again and will be recommending to friends!...Read less.

My partner went into the toilets one morning, not realising the cleaners were in there. There had been no barrier put across the entrance door, so an easy mistake to make. And mid pee one male cleaner banged against the door and shouted at her to get out. It really shock her to be honest and ruined her morning that day. It was a shame, my partner would have apologised and left as quickly as she could it had been done calmly. There reallu wasn't any need to make her feel like that at all.

Apart from that, we loved the site. Great location for the beaches and walk. Solva and St David's around the corner. I liked how busy the site was but everyone there was very respectful and quiet when the time was right. Although we don't have kids it was nice to see lots of kids knocking around riding bikes and playing. Definitely would like to come back when the sun's a bit higher with a wetsuit!...Read less.

You had hire a fire pit on the night for a small cost which the kids loved, especially toasting their marshmallows.

The staff were all so lovely and super friendly

The location of the site was excellent for the beach, and surrounding areas or Kids loved it.

One of the best located call sites in the UK, right next to an amazing beach. Newgale has everything you need for camping , especially if you don’t have electric hook up as there are sockets in the shower block to blow up beds, there is phone charging facilities as well as washing up and freezer store to re freeze your ice blocks, just across the road from a fabulous beach , there’s a local pub and pizza place on site, you will need transport if you want to visit other places like Solva or St David’s, but all in all a wonderful location and perfect for dogs 🥰...Read less.

There are not enough kind words I can say about this site. Site is lovely and clean and staff are amazingly helpful and nice people in general. We have stayed on this site a few times now. And this time we had friends and family come from Nottingham and London and they can't speak any higher of the site and are grateful that we recommend it to them. As for the price of the stay we had 7 nights that was cheaper than most sites for half the time.The beach which is a stone's throw away is beautiful and clean. There are nice walks and caves that are enjoyed by all ages. To be asked if I would recommend this site, yes 100 times yes. We love the place and will continue to return and recommend to others....Read less.

I put £2 in shower but it was cold , a male maintenance man came into the female block and just told me to move to another cubicle whilst he was still there, felt really uncomfortable, he was very abrupt !!! The lady that greeted us could have been more polite, her first words were quote ‘ well your dog needs to be on a lead to start with ‘ In all it just didn’t feel welcoming at all , which is such a shame as the location was lovely...Read less.

We do have signage up in the facilities block to explain the charge for the showers is to prevent long queues with people staying under the water for an limited time.

Our team of staff are on site 15 hours a day during the summer holidays, campers are free to come and ask us to talk to kids if they're playing in an unsuitable area,

Friendly, helpful staff. Clean toilets, 20p/minute for hot shower. Nearby water tap, very close to lovely beach. (1 minute walk to the beach). We were hit by storm betty and most tents were destroyed/ most people in tents left the campsite. Although our tent survived we decided to leave the next day due to the extremely high winds and 2x friends' tents breaking. Staff were helpful in the middle of the night when people were battling to keep tents up/ take tents down in the gales. Happy with our experience and would visit again- nothing can be done about poor weather conditions!...Read less.

"Unable to stay at Newgale due to storm weather warning"

I have had to complete the above fields as if I stayed at the site as there is no option to state otherwise. However, due to the storm weather warning on 18th Aug we decided not to camp that weekend. Several of our friends decided to risk it but their tents were destroyed and they had to return home the following morning. Unfortunately, the storm warning was announced within 24 hours of our stay otherwise we would have called to arrange to come on another date. We stayed here last year during a heatwave and were basically spoiled by the weather,this stay we cut short by one day as 10 folk lost their tents and our tent suffered a very small tear due to the storm,also the whole site at ground level is pourus in that the water comes up from underneath, the staff there do the best they can to help but they can't control the weather facilities and location amazing,staff brilliant, owners very jolly funny and friendly,also highly educated........Read less.

Really appreciate their response on the night of the incident, it was great to see the whole campsite and particularly staff coming together so efficiently and compassionately

1) Don't put tents by the road. The traffic noise keeps people awake plus recent RTA showed that the ditch is not sufficient protection from poor drivers

2) the key pad on the toilets was not in use - don't mind either way but not sure why the function exists if not being used

3) very well run and always get a lovely warm welcome with very engaged and hard working staff....Read less.

Stayed in my campervan with 8 year old son. Felt very safe

Staff very friendly and helpful. Even helped me try and sort out issue with my hook up .

Washing up area has communal washing machine/dryer and freezer.

Site quiet after around 11pm

I had good size level pitch .

Beach over the road which was very clean
