On arrival was met by a very friendly lady sorry rubbish with names

We stayed in crantock pod was enough room bed was ok and included bedding was clean and tidy

Bathroom close by and immaculate in the ladies at all times couple of messes found in mens unfortunately but not fault of the site fault of people not cleaning up their own messes

Unfortunately we had poor weather so if returned would definitely bring some sort of pop up I'm order to be able to cook outside my husband managed under the brolly would also bring a travel kettle so didn't always have to use outside stove for brew

Pod had a little fridge in room and when I realised it wasn't switched on at the plug it is actually very cold lol

The site overlooks a fishing pond and could see ducks with their babies

The site is very quiet and have a no noise at 10pm policy

WiFi available for free too

We rented a pod for 3 nights at Gwinear.

The site is beautiful clean tidy and so well maintained.

The washing facilities were outstanding the best you will ever find.

There is a lovely walk around the fishing lake which is kept beautifully.

Nelly,s the on site cafe/restaurant was outstanding quality reasonably priced. 10 out of 10. Highly recommend.

The pod was warm and cosy, clean bedding and a wonderful view across the fishing lake,

I only have a small criticism the floor of the pod hadn't been hovered and was extremely dusty, the window also could done with the cobwebs being removed.

On saying this i would 100% stay there again,

We love this site. So well maintained & clean. Each pitch is so spacious even if you have a caravan, awning & car. We have a motorhome. The toilet block is very modern & it's no wonder they have won awards.

The Fishing is the main reason we come here but would still use the site anyway. Great that WiFi is included too.

Probably need to find some downers to stop everyone booking up but sadly there aren’t any

You would probably be hard pressed to beat this lovely quiet spot

Easy to get in good plot space, all the ataff are very helpfull and friendly, all the facilities are clean and looked after, the on site bistro serves great food, i do not fish but have been told it is good. Lots of places around the area to eat ans visit etc.

We were blown away by this site, firstly the owners were so helpful and informative on arrival that you felt at ease strait away.

The gravel pitch was huge with both electric and water well spaced from other vans and the grounds were beautifully manicured with great views of the fishing lake.

The toilet/shower block was of hotel standard every little detail was thought of.

We were so impressed we’ll definitely be back in 2026.

Very clean site good fishing choice of 2 lakes, close to Newquay, Perranporth, Padstow, morrisons, not to far, there is a bus stop on main road, this year have introduced nellys surf and turf all local caught fish , it is an ideal base to go out exploring, no entertainment or play parks so a nice quite site very dog friendly with dog exercise field we have been going there for several years and love it there is always someone on hand to advise and help you and the other campers always speak so ideal opportunity to get to now people LOVE IT...Read less.

First time visiting Gwinear & would definately return again. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed by the owner who explained everything we needed to know to enjoy our stay. Pitch was very large & immaculately kept. In all the sites we’ve stayed at this site had the most luxurious toilet/shower block,(Spotless & very modern). This site was so peaceful & in easy reach of lots of places to visit ( only 7 minutes drive to Newquay) All in all a site the owners should be very proud of& that i would highly recommend.

Well firstly so easy to get too no stupid single file tracks. Reception was welcoming and helpful. Good security gate. Nice large hard standing pitch with nice hedge each side. Shower and toilet facilities were exceptionally well looked after and clean. The small snake bar/ takeaway on site was out of this world food was amazing. Fishing was great fished 9- 4 and had 20 carp all over 9lb with several going to high teens inc a 19lb .the site is kept spotless and everyone we met were so nice . Will definitely be revisiting as this was a great base camp to see all the sites around Cornwall....Read less.

The toilet block is always spotless clean and tidy there a laundrette on site and a freezer for communal use

New this year there's a restaurant where the choice and quality of the food is excellent

We found all other guests to be friendly and helpful and very important to us all adhered to the site rules about no noise between 10 pm to 8am so getting a good night sleep was great

There's two fishing lakes one for specimens and one for pleasure fishing and a very well stocked tackle shop

Location of the site is perfect for Newquay and Perranporth situated halfway between both

Lovely campsite but there is absolutely nothing for the children to do there, the dogs have more space than them with an exercise area.

Site just needs a space for them to play with a ball something or a playground.

We've stayed here twice now in August for our summer holidays.

The site is well presented, very clean and tidy.

The hosts are excellent, from initial booking through to completion of the stay.

Hard standing pitches are level and have great privacy via dividing hedgerows, they also include individual water taps.

Excellent facilities for dogs, including enclosed exercise area, dog walking area and dog shower.

Toilet/Shower block is modern and very clean.

This was our second visit to Gwinear and hopefully wont be our last, the site is well maintained, clean and tidy. It's a very quiet site with large pitches, where caravan, awning and car fit with ease, toilet facilities are immaculate with large shower cubicles that we've never had to queue for.

There is now a small hut serving food, unfortunately we never found any time to eat there but the food looked delicious, coupled with a great looking menu.

We don't fish so can't really comment, other than I overheard a couple of guys talking about the two lakes having a great stock and good sized fish?

The staff are extremely helpful and friendly, our electricity supply tripped around midnight on our pitch on one occasion and was repaired the very next morning.

I hope this is some insight into what to expect from Gwinear, it's a lovely site and a perfect location for visiting anywhere within Cornwall, I'm sure nobody would be disappointed staying there.

Site has been improved year on year over a 10 year period and specifically since covid. All staff are amazing friendly and extremely helpfull.

Facilities are amazing and cleaned regularly throughout the day and the site in general is immaculately maintained.

There are 2 fishing lakes on site, one a specimen carp lake that can be used overnight the other a larger pleasure fishing late with carp to over 10 lbs, but unfortunately closes at 5pm, an 8pm closure would be better.

Small fenced in dog exercise area, agan well maintained.

However not a lot on site for children....Read less.

We stayed in the Crantock pod during July/August. Upon arrival the staff were super friendly and welcoming!

All information was easy and helpful! The location couldn’t be more perfect! So central to all main locations of Cornwall! And the local restaurants was gorgeous (we visited the bowgie inn and The smugglers inn) the food was amazing.

I’ve stayed at many campsites and found this one was above all! The toilet facilities were so clean and tidy at all times of the day! Also the other facilities (launderette, wetsuit wash area, etc) had everything you would need!

The pod itself was lovely! So homely and cosy with the decoration. Had everything you could possibly need! And the amount of space is perfect for two people! Lovely for a camping experience with little bit of luxury :)

We loved the experience! And would recommend to everyone who is planning to stay in Cornwall!

Stayed for 9 days as a fishing holiday just me and my dog. Didn’t get to meet the owners which wasn’t a problem as everything was all prepared for me in my arrival to collect. The pitches are large and all very well kept. The toilet/shower block and other facilities were immaculate and very clean ( it’s unfortunate that some people still don’t understand how to flush a toilet or clean it after use !!! There is a great Nellys surf & turf cafe on site, open a few days during the week that serves amazing food but not licensed and only serve instant coffee & tea and it is mainly just an eatery.. the fishing lakes are on your door step but be aware if you want to fish the specimen lake you have to have the right gear or you can’t fish it you have to fish the pleasure lake. If you have a lot of gear your better off taking your car to the pleasure lake as it is a bit of a walk along a gravel road to the venue which is only a5 minute drive. We have just returned from 2 weeks at Gwinear and it was absolutely perfect. The site is ideally situated between Newquay and Perranporth with immaculate large hard standing pitches including electric and water point. The toilet and shower block is a credit to the owners, we could definitely see why they have won awards🥇. The exercise field for the dog was also an added bonus and much appreciated by our four legged friend,again kept immaculate. We had take away from Nelly’s, due to a blip in the weather, which was delicious 😋. We quickly discovered whilst chatting amongst the campers many return year on year, we are also definitely wanting to return next year. 10/10....Read less.

We've been to Gwinear for many years and will continue to do so. The site has grown through love and commitment. It always looks perfectly mown and clean upon arrival. The bins are emptied regularly and the area around them clean and checked. There are dog bins x 2 another would be great near the toilet block. There is an enclosed space for your dogs to run free. A Laundry room with 2 waters and 2 dryers also has lots of information about the local area and a small book swap area. A dog, wet suit area is near the outdoor/under cover sinks. Pitches vary slightly in shape but all are perfect. Fishing, sadly its 9 till 5. I have heard so many on site, this year say, it needs to change to dawn till dusk then be able to go out in the morning, come back after lunch and fish till dusk. Maybe change the specimen lake to a normal lake for those using the site only. People will still be happy to pay and I'm sure it would get more use. The site is a perfect central place to visit all Cornwall....Read less.

Gwinear is an immaculate site with owners who are obviously very passionate & committed to the site & their guests comfort during their stay. Many visitors stay for extended periods of time & return year on year which speaks itself.

Pitches are spacious & have hedges for privacy

Hard standing's are pretty level too.

I would like the food waste bin at dish wash to be replaced. Inconsiderate guests ignore signs food way only but removing has led to inconsiderate guests leaving the sinks without cleaning up after themselves.

Nelly’s is a fantastic addition the food is outstanding.

I would love to see reception offering a few basic items for sale.

Another amazing stay at Gwinear! The campsite as a whole is first class. Central to so many places in Cornwall, but so quiet & chilled. Despite the one star review the campsite is immaculate and our experience could have been much better. I was really looking forward to a relaxing holiday and enjoying a bit of carp fishing. Unfortunately that all went terribly wrong. On the first day I had fishing booked they decided to have two guys running around ALL DAY on sit on mowers and using power strimmer's. My apple watch actually warned of a noisy environment it was that bad. Despite three calls asking for this to stop they just ploughed on and on. I wouldn't mind but the grass didn't even need cutting. I have never been on a site where this has been done like this before. Usually every day pitches that have been vacated that morning are quickly mowed around and tidied up by one man and a mower. Max a couple of hours spread around the site. Needless to say the fishing wasn't worth it, all the fish were off the feed and I packed up. We were that annoyed we actually left the site 3 days early....Read less.

I can’t imagine going anywhere else, the staff are so good so friendly. The place is a credit to the family and staff so clean and well presented, pitch sizes are very generous and immaculate with an award winning toilet block. It’s very dog friendly with lovely nature walks on site. The site is super quiet due to it being aimed more at adults, not so much in regards of children, with no parks or play areas which is perfect for us. New for this year (2025), is another game changer has been the addition of the on site bistro/cafe “Nelly’s”. The food is off the scale, so good, it’s top restaurant quality with a welcoming and friendly alfresco dinning experience. We can highly recommend the full English and the surf and turf. Perfect location for visiting nearby villages and beaches and further a field and the site is very accessible, no matter what the size of your outfit . Secure barrier entrance which I feel is important .Very clean and modern facilities , plenty of showers and toilets . Great to have a dog and wet suit wash and the laundry ! All clean and tidy .

I love the spacious pitch sizes and the site has lovely open green areas , this adds to appeal , a lot of sites cram in as many pitches as they can !

I haven’t been camping since I was a child. I’m 50. I decided out of the blue to visit Cornwall. I was happy in my camper but it’s not the place for easy parking. I rolled up to the nearest campsite according to chat gpt and what a surprise I got. Shower facilities are out of this world. I did my laundry , took a walk around the lake and hooked up for the night. I felt a little out of place in my micro camper compared to the luxury caravans surrounding me but everyone there was super friendly. Couldn’t ask for a better reception from the lady from Bolton! As a fellow northerner it really made my day and put me at ease as a first time solo traveller. The price was amazing as I thought I’d be paying at least£60 or above.£40 was really affordable and they even had a mini restaurant that was happy to provide takeaway. This review should be all about the excellent well kept pitches, friendly staff and excellent on site food bar, all of which are superb, but during our stay one major fault let the site down.

It's obvious that the owners have invested heavily in a beautifully appointed toilet/shower block which is kept extremely clean, but for some reason during our stay there was a permanent bad smell in the building. Once this has been rectified I wouldn't hesitate to go back and recommend Gwinear to friends and family....Read less.

This is a lovely site that is kept spotless and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

The shower block is one of the best I've seen with massive shower rooms, plenty of toilets and hand basins.

The grounds are very clean and the grass cut regularily

The fishing lakes are good and the angling shop really well stocked.

There were a couple of negatives though.

The pleasure lake only opened at 9am which seemed late to me, I would rather have started around 7am because it got really hot in the afternoon and the fishing slowed dramatically.

There are no fire pits allowed with the explanation that they didnt want people sat around drinking till late at night as it is a quiet site.

The site is right next to a very busy main road so there is quite a lot of noise. Plus it was almost impossible to walk out because there wasnt any footpaths along the road to get to any public footpaths that would take you to through the fields.

We stayed for 2 weeks, easy access of the road, secure site, pitches large and separated by hedge, with electric and water at pitch. Very freindly and warm welcome, at reception, facilities spotless, plenty toilets and showers were hot and spacious. Dog wash area was a great addition when you come back from the beach. Laundry with large washing machines and driers, reasonably priced.

Do need a car to get out and about but local to Newquay and Perranporth, lots of other beaches and coves. Dog freindly pubs a few minutes drive away.

Nellys food wagon was great when you wanted time of from cooking, reasonably priced and good fresh food cooked to order, takeaway or eat outside.

Hubby enjoyed a few days fishing, can only fish by day and finishes at 5, which was the downside.. But saying that the lakes were spotless and fish in great condition.

No drive over grey waste, but not an issue for us we have a portable one.

We had a fab 5 night stay in May. The weather was on our side which added to the holiday. Family were staying in Crantock so only down the road. Toilets immaculate and I am very fussy!. We are thinking of booking for sept next year, even though its a long drive for us it was worth it.

We have been coming to Gwinear for about 4-5 years now. The site is always very well maintained and the accessibility is great.

We enjoy Gwinear as it is quite central to a lot of our favourite beaches (all dog freindly)

A superb addition to the site is Nellys - great food at very reasonable prices with a lovely freindly chef,and outdoor seating. Brilliant 👏 👏.

The few things I think that could improve the site would be a waste collection area on the other side of the field, somewhere through the gate near to the fishing car park.

Also I do think the charge for dogs is a little high. My daughter who came on her own with her dogs paid more than myself and my husband. It's not as if they are costing the site anymore in revenue. The caravan club sites do not charge for dogs at all but it is nice to book with independent local sites.

All in all it's a wonderful site with freindly attentative staff.
