This was our second trip to fakenham and every bit as good as the first. We're in a camper and with the tickets included in the pitch it is great value if you enjoy racing.Moving on the day of the racing is not a problem.The reception staff are very efficient and the course staff/facilities have been upgraded from our first visit. The Gallows bar restaurant were very hospitable as well. One can also play a round of golf but not on racedays

We're only a couple of hours away and we will be back.One word of caution if you don't like a dawn chorus bring some earplugs....Read less.

Fakenham racecourse was easy to access.Ideally situated to explore the Norfolk Ccoast by car or public transport. Walking into Fakenham for shops and pubs was easy. Toilets and showers clean and tidy. It would have been great to have a sink available for pot washing. We will visit again in the summer....Read less.

My trip to Fakenham started with a lovely relaxing drive, on arrival I was informed that the hardstand I had booked had been given to a group booking and I was given a grass site with thick rubber runners to stop me sinking into the ground, not a good start. The facilities, showers and toilets were excellent.and access to water and waste removal were good. The site was very clean and well maintained.Also access to the sports club was a real plus due to the terrible weather i had for most of my stay. This was my fist visit to Fakenham and i was pleased to say I enjoyed walking around the town.I didn't have much contact with staff but those i did speak to were friendly and informative. One other problem i had was the television aerial booster worked for three hours on the fist day and never again, this didn't cause much of a problem as had other things to do....Read less.

We did not realise how devoid of facilities it would be on days when no racing was taking place. All restaurants /bars closed. Only option to go into town.

Shower/toilets clean , water hot but no heating in the building.

We were unlucky with the weather so races called off - a miserable stay.

The site is well run with lovely clean facilities and helpful staff. You can walk into the town centre and there is a bar on site, although we didn't use this so can't comment. This was one of the cheaper sites too so definitely value for money....Read less.

First trip to Fakenham. Not disappointed. Despite inclement weather the hard standing pitch was great. All facilities excellent. Showers within the main building pristine. Did not use the close by clubhouse as it was not dog friendly. Perhaps it was a franchise for general public and race goers too.

Very large pitches, excellent facilities. Meeting rooms were so good for our rally. A couple of minutes walk away is the Gallows bar restaurant and club house, which served us an excellent meal and drinks at very reasonable prices.

It is only a 25 minute walk into the centre of Fakenham with loads of shops restaurants and bars.

Arrived in the rain checkin was speedy show where everything was site staff very helpful.

Toilets etc were immaculate as was all of the site.

Pitch was very good and spacious.

We were very lucky as a Christmas market was held on site during our stay as was racing on Monday.

A well spaced site close to the racecourse. Ideal for attending a race meeting. If you book two nights there is the added benefit of complimentary entrance to the races with the ability to upgrade if required. The facilities (toilets and showers) are clean and well managed. All the staff are friendly and accommodating. A very relaxed atmosphere. The site is also within easy walking distance to Fakenham town. The Gas Museum is an unusual museum but very interesting and well worth a visit....Read less.

Really enjoyed our stay here. Booking and pitching were easy and we liked our quirky location right next to the stands and jumps. Staff were all really friendly and facilities were very clean. The dog walk looked great although we didn’t use it. There is so much to do in the area and we would definitely return.

Our only minor gripe were the times that the toilet and shower block is cleaned. 8am til 10 am I’d just when people want to get ready for the day. The cleaners were super nice but it was a pain.

Fakenham Racecourse is a nice site and base to visit the East Coast. Fakenham Racecourse is obviously a racecourse firstly and campsite secondly but I do feel they could do a little more for the camping community such as a small site shop selling a few goods....Read less.

Touring in our motorhome, tried to book the site online for that night but online bookings need 24 hours notice so we took a chance on driving there. Reception very helpful, offered us a choice of pitches and we chose one we knew from previous visits. Very happy with the pitch. The site had various maintenance and improvements going on but this did not cause disturbances and was even interesting to watch, especially the work preparing for the start of their racing season. Pleasant walk into town. Facilities block has been upgraded and the shower cubicles were large and warm, plentiful hot water....Read less.

Despite the wet and windy weather, we enjoyed our stay at Fakenham Racecourse. We had a pleasant game of golf at the Fakenham Golf Club and the easy walk into the town was a bonus. The excellent bus links to other places in North Norfolk were useful.

Our time there couldn't have been better. All staff were really helpful and friendly, from reception ladies to the cleaning ladies to the ground staff. The whole site was kept in very good condition.The toilets /showers were always spotless when I used them. The town was in walking distance with a market on Thursdays.Many things to do if you wanted to or just a good place to chill out.I would mention, very good dog walking facilities as well.

A garden centre in walking distance as was a friendly pub.

Beaches such as Hunstanton, Cromer, and the stunning Wells By The Sea to name a few were a short drive away.

We had been to Fakenham twice before and this year had booked for one week. We enjoyed it so much my husband spoke to the lady in reception and arranged for us to stay on for longer which we did and ended up for an extra 8 weeks and look forward to returning next year....Read less.

Spent time at Fakenham Racecourse for the last 7 years. We use it for visiting friends in Hempton. The staff are excellent and booking is easy. We always have hard standing but the grass pitches seem well drained and all are well spaced. Toilets are clean and showers are warm. We have not stayed on a race day but believe there are concessions available.

Fakenham town is a short walk with shops and pubs. Thursday is market day with a flea and veg market. Langham glass is a good place to visit as is Pensthorpe a short drive away.

First impressions are important and staying on a racecourse was unusual and interesting. The campsite was spread all over the course with caravans and motorhomes mixing with grandstands, stables, parade ring and betting halls. Every available space was allocated a pitch meaning there was lots to choose from. Amenity block was up to date and very clean and tidy. The “sports” centre was very good, friendly staff and good value for money. Mixed with golfers, bowlers and archers and we watched an archery competition on Sunday afternoon. The racecourse has diversified and I have one quite major downside. I was told of an event happening on Saturday night so as I was forewarned I chose a pitch away from the event. The only problem was that there was another event at the sports centre (The Gallow). We had stereo music until gone 1.00. No doubt the revellers enjoyed it, I struggled to see the funny side. A great site and fully recommend it - just check so as to avoid the Saturday night disco....Read less.

I asked to be located as close to our venue as possible. We were put right next to it. Couldn't be any closer and some friends booked to be as close to us as possible. It was brilliant. Exactly what we asked for.

A lovely clean site and we were lucky to get an end pitch which was rather large. Town was only a short walk away which has everything you may need. The site map we were given didn't have everything marked on it like washing up facilities but a walk round the site and we soon found everything. There was a private function in one of the bars on the Friday night but the music ended at midnight and no one wondered over into the pitches....Read less.

Apart from renovation works which has closed the disabled facilities there is nothing that can fault the site. Everything is clean. The staff are exceptionally friendly. There is another club house on site where you can use the bar if you wish to partake. The staff there are also very friendly and welcoming. Just a short walk into Fakenham. Added bonus we saw two small deer. If you want take away there is a car park just into town with 2 fish and chip shops. We had a very tasty kebab from Marmaris opposite the car park. I personally would avoid The Limes. It’s a Wetherspoons. We went there in a Tuesday evening. Very busy waited 40 mins for food which to my taste wasn’t good....Read less.

Before booking we had read certain reviews that mentioned noise from the hospitality facilities. We therefore asked the question whether there were any parties booked during the nights we intended to stay. The member of staff we were talking to confirmed there were no parties planned. WRONG! We booked and the first night the loud music started at 7pm and continued until 12 midnight. In fact the live band got louder and louder as the night went on. WeBe stayed on noisy sites before but this was ten times the decibel level experienced on normal sites. So if you are thinking about spending time at this site - beware!!...Read less.

Staff couldn’t help you enough, so friendly and chatty. Allowed us to extend our stay last minute (pitch permitting) Facilities nicely clean and checked regularly. Stayed on a camping pitch with hook up, water no more than 30 yards away, access to site absolutely fine for cars and caravans.

We are regulars at Fakenham Racecourse and we have made long term friends as a result of staying there over the past decade. Once again we met up with these friends and we would regard the staff at the Racecourse as friends too. We exchange Christmas cards with the staff each year and always have a friendly chat with the staff across the site throughout our stays. They are always informative & helpful and the facilities work well for us. Fakenham is also a useful hub for access to the lovely North Norfolk coastline, such as Sheringham & Wells which are easily accessible by public transport, if you don't wish to move your unit.

There is a good Restaurant adjacent to the Site where we have eaten on many occasions in the past. In the town, which is a short distance away, there are other possibilities for eating & shopping.

Near to the entrance to the site there is a garage which can be used if your vehicle experiences any issues - we & friends have used this facility in the past....Read less.

My husband and I have been to this site a couple of times before and we loved it.

The staff are so helpful that when we had a problem with our motorhome one of the gents who works there (in his own lunchtime )drove my husband to a local garage to arrange help.The lady in reception also couldn't have been more kind and helpful. The site is kept clean and the toilets when we were there were spotless.Showers are nice and hot with plenty of room in them.

This site is probably more suited to grown ups than children but we did see some youngsters there.

We have now reverted back to owning a caravan and after staying for a week in July decided to see if we could book the site for a further 2 months. We like Fakenham as a town, very friendly people and the bonus of a Wetherspoons and the best fish and chips I have ever tasted from the fish and chip shop next door to it. P.S. the council have it right with their car parking fees. So good to see they are encouraging people to visit....Read less.

The site is very close to the Fakenham sports centre and restaurant complex very good for hot food and takeaway and very friendly staff, on site showers are very clean and the water is good and hot. Plenty of places to walk if you have a dog like we do and the walks around the River Whensum are Interesting. If you are a bird watcher then I don't think you will be disappointed as the coast is not to far away for some of the RSPB RESERVES. We found Fakenham to be a charming market town with several shops ;Pubs; Cinema; etc a visit to Alldiss department store will not disappoint as they have a very good restaurant. All in All Weather permitting we had a very relaxed stay and quite time....Read less.

Very helpful staff - facilities very clean - although they unfortunately had a few issues with travellers who deemed it necessary to flood the ladies toilets one evening - but this was sorted thankfully.

The site itself is kept very well - lovely walks into town or along the river.

Ideal for trips to Holkham, Wells next to Sea, Blakey and many more north Norfolk seaside towns.

Camp site as always I’m good condition. Just that there was only one disabled toilet shower available as other one was being renovated. We weren’t told of this and booked a pitch near the loos that were out of action. In fact for a camp site of this capacity seems strange that there are only 2 designated disabled toilet/showers.

We had a great first camping trip with our 10 month old baby and other families with children. Facilities were clean and well maintained and pitches were generous. The campsite team were helpful at the booking stage as we wanted to be pitched together. For the older children there was plenty of room to run around and play - the games field is an added bonus. The site was okay big spaces for your tent, but that’s really it could do with a park for the kids. If it’s families I do feel like they cater more for the horse racing and golf this is the second time we stayed inside last year for me. It’s the cleanliness of the toilets shower block. There’s no care and attention to detail I was there for three days and the photos I’ve put just didn’t get cleaned and haven’t for a long time with it and I myself have a cleaning business so I didn’t notice probably more than other campers, would they just seem to give it a quick once over and that’s not for me, someone that we wouldn’t retain location as good but there must be more sites around the area that’s got great locations as well for me it’s a no...Read less.

Reception staff at Fakenham are always friendly and helpful. They kept us informed about our stay when booking, before arrival and when we were there.

The site is easy to find and within walking distance of Fakenham town centre. However, on a previous visit, my husband walked back from town on his own, forgot about the turn off the main path just before the bridge and ended up quite a long way away from the racecourse! I have also spoken to friends who did the same thing in the dark. A sign, similar to the one on the roadway into the racecourse, placed at the end of the field, near to the bridge would be useful!

The newer showers in the lower field are great (modern and clean) and, when we visit, are quite adequate. However, if the site is busy, the number of showers may not be enough. I do miss the washing machine in that block.

Fakenham is a lovely town with a great market on Thursdays. Loved the old fashioned and quirky, but cheap Tudor Tearooms in town....Read less.

The site was lovely, very clean and tidy and the facilities were great. The only downside was that the site is also used as a party venue so if you like it quiet, then please be aware. There were 2 parties booked on consecutive evenings in the Prince of Wales stand, which was only a few yards from our pitch. We decided to leave early because of this, which was a shame as up until then, it had been perfect.

it might be helpful if the site owners could make people aware of this when trying to book, rather than letting us know a few days before the events. The staff were very helpful and apologised for the inconvenience. We would consider returning as the site location is ideal for the town centre which is only a short walk away....Read less.

The pitches are well spaced and access is straightforward and being a racecourse well signposted

The location is excellent to give access to the coast and many Norfolk attractions

Wells next the sea is a short drive away and we’ll worth a visit for fresh dressed crab and massive sandy beach

Hunstanton and Sheringham all the Burnhams also pleasant drive

A short walk to Fakenham and short drive to major supermarkets
