A spacious site on the edge of Fakenham with many amenities within walking distance - pubs, restaurant, shops etc. Staff are always friendly and willing to help. Good value for money too. A good base for the fantastic coastline Burnhams to Blakeney and several stately homes.

If we have one slight reservation it's that the Racecourse site is also used to host indoor events - eg school proms, parties etc. On our most recent stay there was both a wedding reception going on till midnight and a separate party till 1 am. It's a big site and in general these aren't too much of a bother, but if you're a particularly light sleeper you might want to check what's on....Read less.

Stayed here with my wife and her sister, my sister-in-law had not been to North Norfolk so I picked this as a central location for visits to Cromer, Sherringham, Wells, Burnham etc., all of which are 20 mins or so drive away. The facillities were alwatys clean, no shortage of hot water, and I also liked the showers being adjustable by the user as opposed to the more common pre set temperature units at most locations.

The pitches I looked at were all a good size, the hard standing we had was huge, I can think of several sites that would have had 2 or even 3 units in the same area, plenty of places to eat/drink in Fakenham and although we never had the opertunity to try it the Golf Club Bar adjacent the site welcomes all visitors, all in all a good location....Read less.

We were on a hard standing pitch (61) with EHU and had water right next to us.

The toilets were very clean and had the best showers I've encountered in over 30 years camping, great pressure, always great hot water and a turn on rather than push button, and most importantly included in the price.

Fakenham itself is an easy 10 min walk away to pubs and shops, but there is also a very good sports club at the site entrance which allows campers to use the bar facilities.

We have come here for many years staying three or four days at a time. The location is very good being a short walk along a footpath to the town which has shops, a suprrmarket and a good bus service. We are always welcomed on arrival by friendly, helpful staff. The site itself has two toilet blocks with hot showers, toilets and are always clean and tidy. There is a washing up/veg preparation room, also two chemical disposal points and drinking water taps around the campsite, not forgetting large containers in which to put rubbish and recycling separately. The site is well placed for visiting North Norfolk. Fakenham is a pleasant and interesting small town in easy walking distance.

The site is well maintained attractive and spacious. The facilities are good and regularly cleaned.

There are two areas for caravans/motorhomes and a separate area for tents. Pitches are generous and well spaced. Some pitches may require the use of levelling blocks but such slopes as there are on the site are gentle.

We always enjoy staying at Fakenham Racecourse site. The pitches are spacious and well maintained and the toilet block clean and warm. It was so easy to book on-line and the staff were friendly and helpful on our arrival. It is just a short walk into Fakenham were there are supermarkets and restaurants. Great when you are in a motorhome.

Situated inland, but ideal for getting to numerous attractions. We visited Sheringham, Cromer and Thursford over the weekend we stayed. Only suggestion I'd have is; we booked a hard standing pitch, which we assumed would be like other hard standing pitches ( with grass for the awning)... The hard standing pitches at Fakenham have no grass at all, they are completely concrete, therefore we asked to move to a different pitch to enable us to secure our awning pegs. Staff were very accommodating on this and luckily had a pitch available, so perhaps make that a little more definite on the website when people book. Sign posts and explanations could be clearer ( we never knew if the restaurant would be open for food or was it just on race days) so this is another ' nit pick ' but nothing major. At first we were a touch apprehensive about staying at this Site as we’d never been before & the fact that it was a Horse Racing Course, left us not knowing exactly what to expect. Initial fears were soon erased once we arrived as from the get go everything looked & felt great. Everything was clearly marked with uniform signage, from the reception office through to the washing up rooms, toilet & shower facilities and drinking water taps. The whole site was immaculately clean & tidy & the standard of the facilities was impeccable. The staff were so courteous, polite & welcoming - helpful beyond expectations & extremely friendly. Having already stayed at another site for 3 nights we’d originally booked on this site for a further 7 nights before travelling on to another once decided where it was to be. However, after the first 2 or 3 nights we’d decided that we should book the remaining 4 nights of our holiday on there such was the high standard which we managed to do. Just returned home after a three night stay at Fakenham Racecours with our daughter and two dogs. Would recommend this site. Immaculatey kept, spotlessly clean toilets and showers. The site has its own game field and sepesrte dog walking field and plenty dog poo bins. There is a pathway into Fakenham town which is a ten minute walk. The site was easily accessible by road. There were good facilities on site and plenty of offerings within walking distance in the local town. There were only 2 showers in the men's block which I used, and one of those suffered from very low water pressure (the other one was empty), but this was a minor inconvenience than anything else. Well kept site, good facilities and friendly staff. It's a nice walk along the River Wensum into Fakenham town, where there's a good range of shops and pubs. The fish and seafood from Weston's Seafood truck at the Thursday and Saturday markets is superb. We loved the dumplings from the Dim Sum chap on a Thursday too. We stayed for 2 weeks and what a beautiful site this is. The staff were absolutely great-very friendly and so helpful. The lady who took our booking originally was extremely friendly and even e mailed me a site plan so we could decide if we wanted a grass or hard standing pitch. The pitches were huge and the grounds were so well cared for. The position of the site was perfect with just a 10 minute walk into Fakenham and the same distance to a great local pub -The Bell in Hempton which was a proper pub with no food just lots of locals and really friendly landlady and landlord. Fakenham Garden Centre was also a 10 minute walk and served great coffee and an excellent breakfast. Lots to see out and about in this area, we had a great 2 weeks. The staff at Fakenham are always friendly and helpful and the grounds are very well kept, but the main attraction for us is the peace and tranquillity found there. It is rare to hear anything other than birds and the occasional tractor. The racecourse is within easy walking distance of the very pleasant market town of Fakenham.

With a mix up on our part we arrived a day early. This proved no problem to the reception staff, we offered to pay for an extra day, however, the staff suggested moving the date of the visit forward to the day we arrived. Which was a very considerate offer, which we gladly took up. Everything we experienced during our stay confirmed what great staff and camping site, we had chosen. This site is conveniently located to walk into Fakenham, and also to Fakenham Garden Centre! There is a lovely walk alongside the river which can take you either to the Garden Centre or into town. The staff are so helpful and friendly and accommodating. We were able to use either of the two shower blocks which were also extremely clean. Certainly good value for money. Booked hardstanding pitch which was a mistake; very stony not suitable for an awning, also very sloping and no segregation between pitches. Told on arrival that proms events were taking place on both nights we were staying and disruption by cars dropping off students around pitches meant we were unable to sit outside, must have known about these events for some time. On the plus side facilities were clean and adequate and good access to town centre only a short walk away....Read less.

Only one fob given to access Facilities so either both had to go to showers at same time or wait for the partner to return.

The route to the toilet block from our hardstanding pitch (No 57) is over a large grassed area. On rainy days, you return to your caravan with wet shoes (this applies on dry days as well, if you are early enough to walk through the dew).

If the grass has been mown, you would walk cuttings into the block on the way in and into your caravan on the way back.

This is an excellent site and laying a path to the toilet block would make it perfect!...Read less.

We Have just bought a caravan and thought that we would give it a trial run at Fakenham racecourse.

The site is very clean and tidy, and well kept. The staff were all friendly and helpful, check in was quick & easy. Dogs welcome facilities wise it had everything we needed. There is a footpath leading from the campsite that takes you along the riverside into Fakenham if you needed any shopping.

We would definitely recommend this campsite, probably not for children but a good base for the area....Read less.

I feel the showers could do with a facelift also as there was no path from our hard standing pitch to the shower block the showers were full of grass which wasn’t very nice. Booking was very easy and the communication was good from the site beforehand, its easy to find and very clean and well organised. The staff were friendly on arrival and helpful and the pitch was good and the toilets and showers clean and well maintained. We had to move during the races and move back but that was well organised and easy to sort out. This is a first class campsite, easy to get into (even with a large caravan), and a good walk into town. Don't try to get to the site through the town while towing, follow the brown signs for the easy route.

Reasonably level spacious pitches, friendly, helpful staff, and clean toilets & showers. A large dog walking area is available, which our dog enjoyed.

There is a sports complex at the entrance to the site, with a golf course, tennis courts etc, plus a nice bar!

The site is centrally located within North Norfolk, with lots to see and do in the area. Norwich, Sheringham, Cromer and Hunstanton are all within reasonable distance, and The North Norfolk Steam Railway, and the Bure Valley Railway are not too far away, as are the Norfolk Broads....Read less.

This was our second trip to fakenham and every bit as good as the first. We're in a camper and with the tickets included in the pitch it is great value if you enjoy racing.Moving on the day of the racing is not a problem.The reception staff are very efficient and the course staff/facilities have been upgraded from our first visit. The Gallows bar restaurant were very hospitable as well. One can also play a round of golf but not on racedays

We're only a couple of hours away and we will be back.One word of caution if you don't like a dawn chorus bring some earplugs....Read less.

Fakenham racecourse was easy to access.Ideally situated to explore the Norfolk Ccoast by car or public transport. Walking into Fakenham for shops and pubs was easy. My trip to Fakenham started with a lovely relaxing drive, on arrival I was informed that the hardstand I had booked had been given to a group booking and I was given a grass site with thick rubber runners to stop me sinking into the ground, not a good start. The facilities, showers and toilets were excellent.and access to water and waste removal were good. The site was very clean and well maintained.Also access to the sports club was a real plus due to the terrible weather i had for most of my stay. This was my fist visit to Fakenham and i was pleased to say I enjoyed walking around the town.I didn't have much contact with staff but those i did speak to were friendly and informative. One other problem i had was the television aerial booster worked for three hours on the fist day and never again, this didn't cause much of a problem as had other things to do....Read less.

We did not realise how devoid of facilities it would be on days when no racing was taking place. All restaurants /bars closed. Only option to go into town.

Shower/toilets clean , water hot but no heating in the building.

We were unlucky with the weather so races called off - a miserable stay.

First trip to Fakenham. Not disappointed. Despite inclement weather the hard standing pitch was great. All facilities excellent. Showers within the main building pristine. Did not use the close by clubhouse as it was not dog friendly. Perhaps it was a franchise for general public and race goers too.

Very large pitches, excellent facilities. Meeting rooms were so good for our rally. A couple of minutes walk away is the Gallows bar restaurant and club house, which served us an excellent meal and drinks at very reasonable prices.

Toilets etc were immaculate as was all of the site.

Pitch was very good and spacious.

A well spaced site close to the racecourse. Ideal for attending a race meeting. If you book two nights there is the added benefit of complimentary entrance to the races with the ability to upgrade if required. The facilities (toilets and showers) are clean and well managed. All the staff are friendly and accommodating. A very relaxed atmosphere. The site is also within easy walking distance to Fakenham town. The Gas Museum is an unusual museum but very interesting and well worth a visit....Read less.

Really enjoyed our stay here. Booking and pitching were easy and we liked our quirky location right next to the stands and jumps. Staff were all really friendly and facilities were very clean. The dog walk looked great although we didn’t use it. There is so much to do in the area and we would definitely return.

Our only minor gripe were the times that the toilet and shower block is cleaned. 8am til 10 am I’d just when people want to get ready for the day. The cleaners were super nice but it was a pain.
