First visit was to the island. Exceptional weather in fantastic surroundings. We returned in October to cricket bat field (picture below taken from our pitch) which we enjoyed even more. Great location. Peace and quiet. Cricket bat field is now our favourite, so we'll be returning in 2026. Farringdon was a good walk from the site, but we made it. A fabulous CL where the owner has not tried to cram in as many vans as possible but quite the opposite. Everyone gets a front row on the river and lots of space. A great place to watch the passing boats, heron, kingfisher and swans. The C17 overhead provides some entertainment as the RAF fly training circuits. Good walks in the area. Lovely site, pitches along side the river Thames with afternoon/evening sun coming across the field.

Owner visited field to check everyone happy and gave us some tips for nice dog walking trails.

Pub close by, no food Monday & Tuesday but very pleasant garden on river side far side away of pub from camping field.

We love camping at friars court, we usually stay in the cricket bat field which we have always really enjoyed. This time we stayed on the island, it was just as restful and peaceful as the field. We keep returning to Friar’s Court as we just love it. Waterside pitches, trees, friendly owners and plenty of space, plus a pub and lots of local walks - it really is a lovely off-grid small site. There is some flying from local air base but they don’t seem to be active very late so not a problem. We find it a tranquil place to hang out with the geese! Just back home after our third visit to The Cricket Bat Field and hoping it won’t be our last.

We love this place. It’s peacefulness, tranquility, lovely scenery and the flora and fauna it encourages.

As seniors we come for a restful, lazy holiday and spend most of our time just relaxing and soaking up our surroundings. There’s nothing nicer than watching the boats and paddle-boarders pass by with a friendly wave or watching the bird life on the river and around us.

With so much space between campers on this vast, well maintained field even our well behaved dogs love it too as they don’t have to be tied up but can just lay beside our motorhome resting after a lovely walk in the surrounding countryside or to the nearby pub for lunch.

Once a day either Ian or Charles, the friendly owner/managers, visit to check everything is ok and have a chat.

No wonder this is top of our list of our favourite holiday venues....Read less.

We stayed 2 nights on Cricket Bat field. There is also The Island site owned by Friars Court.

The site is accessed by a security coded locked gate. You are sent the number prior to arrival.

There was plenty of space and riverside views for all.There are lovely walks along the Thames path and a nearby pub for a drink or meal ( check aerving times for food).

It was very peaceful, sitting watching the wildlife and occasional boats going by.

We stayed for a week at this truly beautiful CL in a peaceful and scenic location. Surrounded by nature, we enjoyed spotting wildlife and watching the gentle activity on the river, from paddleboarders to passing boats, there was always something to catch the eye. There are plenty of lovely walks nearby, and the local shops are just a short drive away for any essentials. One of the highlights was the lovely pub next to the site, serving great food in a welcoming atmosphere. A perfect mix of countryside calm and convenience. Third time at Friars court and loved our riverside campsite on the Thames. Cycling the local area and kajaking to the Trout pub were fantastic highlights. Evenings by the river perfect with friends. This was our second visit and we love the spot. It’s a beautiful riverside location and passing boats create added interest. There are also lovely walks alongside the river.

The staff are very friendly and efficient and the payment system is ideal. We will definitely visit again when we are in that area. Off-grid camping alongside the River Thames where you can position the unit for your preferred aspect and always be assured of plenty of space. Plenty of boating and wildlife activity to watch. (lots of geese although apparently this is very seasonal). Walks along the Thames in both direction. Pub in stumbling distance (dog friendly). Nice courtesy visit from the owner of Friars Court. This is my new hidden hideaway, perfect location to relax and unwind easy entry via Large gate excellent accessibility. Wonderful and gracious host Charles where nothing is too much trouble. The grounds are kept in beautiful condition and the views are to die for.

This is the sort of place you want to go back to time and time again and I certainly will excellent value for money. My only criticism would be nowhere to discharge of grey water unless lifting into the Elsan point which I didn’t do as it felt wrong.. (unless I missed somthing.)

Our second visit to Friars Court with our motor home. It’s a beautiful, quiet, riverside site with ducks and geese and the occasional boat chugging past. There are wonderful walks around the field and we visited Lechlade, Kelmscott and NT house Kencot Park. All wonderful places to explore. Fantastic site, spotlessly clean, beautifully kept tranquil spot excellent views and easy access to the Thames.

Water point, bins and wast disposal all easily accessible.

East walk to the nearest pub which has a good variety of dinks and food.

We booked this trip last minute having seen the weather forecast for a mini heatwave. We approached from the north, avoiding the two arched bridges south of Radcot which we thought was sensible with an 8m caravan. However, we did ground slightly when going over the arched bridge on to the island (resolved by unhitching and using the motor mover). We enjoyed a a peaceful stay right by the water's edge. We had an extended walk along the Thames Path to Buscot Park and back, and also visited Badbury Hill for the bluebells and Great Coxwell Barn, The pub adjacent (Ye Olde Swan) has unusual opening hours, so don't rely on being able to get a drink. The breakfast at Blake's Kitchen in Clanfield is highly recommended. A thoroughly enjoyable short break....Read less.

Just returned from a four day break. Prior to our trip the weather was wall to wall blue as it has been since our return. Sadly it was a bit changeable whilst there and therefore precluded us from truly appreciating the delightful location. As a motorhomer, I'm always a little apprehensive about parking on grass, particularly in close proximity to water. So lovely to be able to camp on the banks of the river Thames. This site is very special because it is not cramped plenty of space, you feel as if you have it to yourselves. I took an early morning deep on both mornings and we paddle boarded as well. Easy access to the water. Charles and Ian are very helpful and pleasant, there if you need them but not interfering.
