We arrived later in the early evening and called the warden who promptly appeared and guided us to the pitch which was level after which the facilities were explained as well as the local eating out, food options in Huntly on a Sunday night. We couldn't do justice to the facilities at hand in the campsite as we had to set off reasonably early in the morning. No issues at all at the campsite which was fairly quiet where we were pitched but the facilities we did use were nice and clean. As we were there for a limited time I felt we could only give 4 * but we had no problems whatsoever and would return at some point in the future. The park is secured at night until early morning and the town square is only a few minutes walk away. We ate at The Bank Restaurant which we can recommend....Read less.

On arrival the reception was locked with a note saying "out on site please ring ..." and just a couple of minutes later a very cheerful and helpful chap turned up to show us to our pitch. All good, except that there was someone in the reception who ignored me, leaving me standing in the rain - not exactly a warm welcome!

Negative points:

Given a pitch rather than being allowed to choose our own.

Those ridiculous push button taps in the showers and wash basins - I bet you don't have them in your home so why expect your guests to use them?

No hot water in the ladies in the morning.

No hairdryers.

We have stayed at Huntly Castle many times over the years and always look forward to going there. The hardstanding pitches in the "Adult" area are level and good sized but are showing signs of needing some significant care and attention. The toilet block is always clean and fully functional. One issue during this stay was that we appeared to be pitched the wrong way round, which was only brought to our attention by the wardens the day after we arrived. Fire regulations being the stated issue. Having been there many times before, and pitched in exactly the same way this was "news" to us. On check-in we were only advised to park in the middle of the pitch, no mention of awning to left or right. We did take everything down, but this spoiled our trip. The caravan site was very nice, well maintained and very helpful staff. There is easy access to walks straight from the site. The town has a large Tesco within 10mins walk from the site. The town itself has a few shops, quite a lot of empty shops, but I believe there is some investment taking place. We would use the site again, probably as a stopover to travel further north. We booked this site as we wanted to see Huntly Castle and itcwas a convenient place to meet up with friends. The site itself was clean, toilets showers etc were good ( press button entry is a bit of a pain) the warden wS very helpful, There was a good walk just behind the site.

This time was a two night stay; easy to book - fortunately we had learnt from our first stay which pitches get more sunlight than others so it was easy to choose which pitch we wanted; easy check-in - shown to the pitch; nice large pitches; bunnies playing around to give something to look at! Nice walks from the site, including easy walk to town and Tesco just down the road. Good loos, easy chemical emptying.

Being really picky, the only one suggestion as a tiny improvement would be a shelf to put the chemical loo tank lid on while it is being emptied - a flat shelf where it wouldn't fall in! But the floor was good!

My friend and I used Huntly Caravan Park as a base to explore and bag a few castles in the area.

The ease of booking the pitch and choice of pitches was great. The wardens were really friendly and helpful, guided us to our pitch and let us get on with it.

The amenities were excellent, clean and warm.

I can't fault the staff and amenities in any way.

The site is a short pleasant walk from Huntly town centre which was absolutely ideal for all our needs

Great site lovely walks with the dogs . Walked into town centre very quaint .

On our visit my dog needed emergency treatment for a previous surgery . The vet was amazing seen to her right away wound dress and antibiotics and very reasonable price.

I'd booked a grass pitch for motor home but upon check In was told they don't normally put motorhomes on grass pitch so managed to give me an option of hardstanding pitches so was no problem.

Pitch 57 in adults only section. End pitch and close to toilet / shower facilities. Pitch was great.

Facilities were clean with 3 showers and plenty toilets in the ladies block.

I would have rated the park excellent if it were not for 2 reasons.The hand dryer in the toilet was not working and none of the outside lights above the gents and ladies at our toilet block were not working.I had went to the toilet during the night and ended up having to go back for a torch so I could see the numbers to put in the door code.Otherwise my wife and myself had a lovely stay again and will definitely be back as it is a lovely site with very friendly staff...Read less.

We booked for 3 nights and was loving the peacefulness so much, we added another two nights to our stay.

Excellent pitch in touring area 2.

Wardens were busy everyday keeping the site in tip top condition.

Facilities were always clean & tidy, albeit I must say, I’m not a fan of fixed head showers; I prefer a hose to reach nether regions of the body.

Lots of different paths to walk right next to the park.

Tip for other travels - take a 20 metre length of tv cable with you to plug into aerial points, as tv in caravan could only pick up a few channels....Read less.

The site is well layed out with distinct areas for touring and a outer avenue of static caravans not visible from the touring pitches. We stayed there with our 2 dogs and loved the wonderful safe walks around the site. Also the 10 minute walk is a 10 minute walk into the town. We enjoyed the market in the square and the new cinema building which was beautiful as were the stalls. Plenty places to eat and drink in town. We book here with another 2 families and easily managed to get spaces in the same area even tho 2 families had tents and 1 a caravan. The area was fantastic nice big open space for kids to run around while still easy to see from tents or caravan due to the large open area, this area also had a nice covered area for bbqs.

We did find the spacing of pitches a bit odd as what was my electric hook up was nearer to y friends pitch and her hook up was a good bit further away so needed an extension for EHU (luckily the site lend these out for a £10 returnable deposit)

The toilet/shower block are Ok they could do with updating however the shower was warm and clean. The toilet block In our area had no showers and only 3 of the 6 toilets in use bit of a pain as caused a wait for toilets.

The site is a short walk from the play park and river and we spent a great day there and all kids aged from 5-14 years had a fab time and the river had a shallow slow moving area that was great for kids....Read less.

Been going to Huntly for camping for years every summer when I can, the site has always been clean the facilities are spotless well looked after, the people who work there are friendly & helpful. I would've usually gave it 5 starts but this year there was far to many dogs some very big with owners struggling to control them, the noise with them barking at other dogs & fellow Campers was none stop through the day & late evening it was very annoying endless racket which spoiled what should've been a nice relaxing holiday....Read less.

We have toured most of Scotland but this northeast corner had been missing from our selections. It’s a beautiful area with ever changing topography. The Huntly site is in the centre of a wonderful parkland area with some varied and interesting walks all fro within the campsite area. Take your bikes to enjoy a leisurely cycle through the woods etc. Seriously worth a visit....Read less.

My partner, 2 dogs and I recently spent four fabulous days at Huntly Castle Caravan Park. The site is split into family and adult section with a tent section as well. When booking you get to pick your own pitch. The pitches are wide enough for car, van and awning to be up. There were three toilet blocks and the one we used (adult section) was always spotless. The wardens Andy and Paula were friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. A 10 minute walk from site to Huntly Castle and also the town of Huntly which is a beautiful small town. It is served by both a Tesco and Asda and plenty small shops and a couple of cafes. Had great phone signal on site (3 and EE) and there is Wi-Fi on site but did not use this. TV point on electric pole but we picked the signal up with van Ariel. Lots of dog walks around the site and a visit to Castle Huntly is worth the visit. Will definitely be back....Read less.

Plenty clean facilities. Easy off road walks in all directions from the site. Bin forest a short distance away for wonderful woodland walks.

We have stayed at Huntly many times, each time we stay there is no sign of the site moving forward, improving facilities or indeed expanding facilities to cater for visitors. The site is clean and generally well kept, the pitches are generally level although could do with some maintenance and resurfacing. During this visit the site was very quiet, granted it was during the week, but it is the holiday time. The Adult area was quite busy, but the rest of the site was quite empty. There used to be an activity centre, but it has been out of use for some years now, however the site needs to consider increasing it's appeal as other caravan sites offer much more for less cost. We love the site and will likely return in the future though....Read less.

We stopped here for one night from stonehaven (Dunnotar Castle) to Inverness.

The camping is quiet, with enough space between pitches that are spreaded around green spaces with playground. Lots of rabbits in the evening. Near the camping, you can reach with a short walk a wonderful castle.

The motorhome service point should be improved to be more weasy to use, as it looks improvised.

This is a lovely caravan site, lots of grass areas within the site and river walks nearby. Huntly appeared a very quiet town and this was reflected at the site. We were the only ones within the adult only area for most of our stay. Would recommend this site and will return at some point in the future. We spent 9 nights here whilst visiting family nearby.

The wardens were welcoming and showed us to our pitch.

The site is well laid out with great facilities, including laundry a dish washing areas and if you like rabbits, you'll love it here. Dozens of them come out of the nearby woodlands and graze on the grass around the pitches.

If you have furry friends or love to walk, you will be in heaven here, there are numerous walks direct from the site taking you trough woods, fields and along the river. The castle is just a short walk away from the park, as it the town and for shopping there is a Tesco within walking distance, or just a two minute drive from your pitch.

We don’t live more than 30 minutes from this site but it is a world away, and a great setting, great dog walking area, and a very quiet place. Amenities are spotless although the dish washing area did not always have very hot water. The surrounding area i,e Huntly itself is not as busy as it once was, so don’t go looking for some crazy night life. There are two well stocked supermarkets, Asda & Tesco a short drive from the site which saves dragging food stuffs with you. The wardens were friendly. For a short , chilled stress free break , it ticks all the boxes and for children there would be plenty to do as there is , large well stocked play parks close to this site. I did feel that it was expensive based on off peak Monday to Friday stay and was slightly more expensive than other local sites we looked at , but for the peace and setting the cost was acceptable...Read less.

We very much enjoyed our stay, campsite was immaculately kept, toilet blocks were phenomenal, in fact all facilities were great. The walks round about were fantastic, we loved touring the Castle ruins & we're delighted at the quality of the butchers in Huntly..best sausages EVER! We had lunch in a lovely wee local cafe The Merry Kettle Tea Shoppe(not a spelling error 😆) which was nice homemade food.

I'd like to say a HUGE thank you to wardens Andy & Paula, they were super friendly, and very accommodating in respect of our awning & rabbit 🐇, always on hand to answer any queries. It was a joy watching the MANY wild rabbits running about Would!

We had a short break in our camper van and stayed on a family pitch. Pitch size was great and campsite very well tended to. Toilets/ showers/ dishwash areas were spotless. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful, particularly as we wanted to change location as the “adult only” area was mobbed.

We cycled and walked from the site and there were plenty of options. The walks down by the river were lovely too, lots of play parks/ open spaces/ picnic tables to enjoy. Even a dip in the river itself, if so inclined, as it was shallow. 5 mins walk through a lovely wildflower meadow to Huntly Castle and the golf course, where we had a drink and our dinner- which I would recommend.

Huntly town centre was a bit down at heel. Can’t help thinking if more people visited it could improve and be a lovely place to visit.
