We found this site as we were visiting Sheffield University with our daughter so wanted something close to the City. Its a hidden gem of a site with immaculate facilities and super pitches. We booked a large pitch as our MH is 8m long and there was still plenty of room. The on pitch water and waste was a lovely bonus so we actually showered in the MH...because we could with water literally on tap!

We had a warm welcome when we arrived and were even helped with the local bus timetable into the city for the next day.

We will definitely be returning as there's so much to explore nearby thay we just were not able to do this time.

The only 'even better if would be to install some sleeping policemen on the site as there were a few people that were driving around quite fast for a campsite where children were playing. Not a fault of the site at all but something to consider.

As soon as we arrived I knew we were going to enjoy. This park is an amazing place to stay . Shows how popular is is with the amount of people who come for a weekend break . all the facilities , toilets , showers were spotless . They have hairdryers too in the toilet/ shower areas . Washing up area near the toilets . All the pitches are on different levels , that is what I liked about it, and I paid an extra £5 to pick my own pitch. They have a chippy van what comes on site on Fridays . The staff are friendly and very helpful , lovely cafe/ bar to sit and have a drink . Seating area outside with a lively view . There’s a park for the kids . We will most definitely be coming back especially for long weekends . I would recommend this park to anyone . Gullivers valley is just around the corner from the park to take your kids for the day . They have CCTV in the park which makes it feel safe and barriers at the front with ANPR . On site facilities are excellent, modern , clean and well maintained . Pitches are generous and the terraced layout offers both interest and some degree of privacy. The site position , adjoining Rother Valley Country park is very good for outdoor activities - good surfaced tracks for general walking , mountain biking and the opportunity to hire equipment for water sports on the lakes. ( Also seasonal swimming for the adventurous) . We visited in Autumn and the pricing , for this quality of site , was very competitive .

The site , being relatively close to the MI ( about 3 mile ) and just south of Sheffield is also very well located for those travelling up North from down south ( or downhill for those travelling in the other direction ) and I would definitely recomend ....Read less.

Just had a couple of days away here, it's only about 30 minutes from our storage site, but it is such a good site with great facilities that we could have been any where.

We walked down to Rother Valley and round both lakes, there is easy access from the site. Our pitch was fully serviced and level with views as far as the Pennines and Emley Moor. We got to enjoy some decent weather on the Monday and even sat out and fired the cadac up. There is an on site licenced cafe, prices are reasonable. Facilities were clean, the whole site was well looked after. We will stay again....Read less.

Pitches are a great size, flat and easy to access .Layout is really good, allowing for privacy and the dog walking area is very convenient. Shower facilities are excellent quality. We came expecting more from a Premiere Park. The member staff was polite and friendly but didn't offer any guidance on the local facilities nor what the site had to offer. I specifically asked regards cycle access to the Rother Valley and was guided to the steep Gravel climb. OK if on a mountain bike and familiar with the technique required to ride the loose uneven surface safely. Not for road bikes! We did find a better route back but only after looking at OS map and google earth. There is a cycle path to Chesterfield with only a short section on road.

The highlight was the excellent Fish and Chip Van. The best fish and chips I've had in years and served with gravy!

The drive over motorhome service point was awkward to access . With a pillar just in the wrong place/the grid not full length/not far enough outboard.

The local shop is a mile away at a garage. No local pub/restaurant....Read less.

Very impressed with the campsite, on first impressions the site was very clean and well maintained, a lovely lady booked us in and asked us if we had been before we hadn't but gad booked pitch 90 which was facing a Service point and as we had a 8.2mtr caravan would struggle to get it on the pitch, luckily there was a cancellation and she changed our pitch to an easy access one which was perfect 👌 The licenced Cafe was very inviting and was nice to get a pint and glass of wine and sit outside with the dogs, on the Friday night they had a Fish and Chip van and I must say it was the best Fish and Chips I have ever had !! My only criticism is it would be nice if they did Pizza take away or salad boxes to take away, they do Rolls and Sausage rolls, teacakes etc, but something hot to take back to your van would make it an even better special place. Easy access from the M1, so on a good traffic route. Walk down to the Rothervally just a shirt walk. But steep coming back up. Site is a little hilly.

Lovely facilities and cafe area.

Would like to see a set place for kids on bike instead of running down the hill and nearly running into cars and vans.

On arrival I got a nice reception,everything explained to me .. the site and its amenities are probably the best I’ve had the pleasure to use .. spotless.. the other amenities like the clubhouse of if I can say that was also spotless and staff very friendly but best of alll the beer prices are very reasonable.. overall the pitches must be the best around and access to rother valley country park is just a few minutes walk .. This place is nothing short of spectacular at the top of Rother valley country park with amazing views over Sheffield and out towards Derbyshire and over the country park pitches are impeccable site is manicured perfectly the benefits of been run by the local council the shower toilet blocks are spotless always warm whatever time of the year great onsite clubhouse bar for drinks coffees and snacks above it’s dog friendly the staff are supper friendly nothing too much trouble we keep coming back again and again

The trans penine trail is on the other side of the country park so good walks and cycling

We arrived at Waleswood on a lovely sunny Monday morning and spent 4 nights there. The site was clean, bright and well cared for with great toilet/shower facilities. It was a little further from the Rothey Valley Country Park than we imagined with a very steep walk down (and back). Once at the Valley though there were lots of walks and things to do like bike, boat hire and water sports. 2 places to eat at Rother Valley, the Waterfront and the Stables Cafe, I think both were dog friendly. There wre was a cafe on the site but while we were there the food available was very limited to toast, cake, crisps, we were told they had deliveries for the weekend so anyone Monday to Friday just had what was left (not sure if thats the same in peak summer season). The cafe closed at 8.30pm but the bar shut at 8pm and the coffee machine was turned off at 6.30pm! It was a comfortable area, with plenty of outdoor seating, a bit small if the weather was poor though. Staff were welcoming and friendly...Read less.

We stayed at waleswood in sept for 4 nights , the place is excellent with huge pitches , ours was fully serviced , if you like more quiet I would suggest a weekdays visit as lots of kids at the weekend although they were not really near where our pitch was , There is a cafe type bar although it did shut quite early .

The facilities blocks were very well maintained and specifications were high .

There is a dog walking area but the main walk down to the park and lake is a very steep path up and down so if your not good on your knees or hips then I wouldn’t recommend that as a walk .

Overall a very nice site , it is huge but very well spaced out and really good pitches ....Read less.

Site is very well laid out with plenty of space, and was very clean.

This was our third visit to Waleswood C&CP. If you look at the plan view layout of the site it’s not evident that it’s a terraced site, once visited and you know the geology you can advance book a pitch. We’ve found the staff friendly and helpful. The site is well kept, with plenty and types of pitches to choose from, grass, to hard standing and super pitches. The amenities are clean and well kept, but my criticism’s are the shower water has no means to regulate it and was too hot to start with, it’s also timed press button and didn’t stay on long enough. We’ve found it a quite site but then we’ve not been at weekends. For those fit enough there’s a path from the site down to the Rother Valley Park. My other criticism of the site is the limited choice of food available in the coffee shop/bar, when we’ve been in the week there’s was only toasted sandwiches. If you want anything more substantial you have to go offsite, like down to Rother Valley Park, would it stop us visiting, no!...Read less.

This was only our second time out with our caravan.

My partner and I were having difficulty with the air awning so we asked for assistance.

A lovely lady from the reception came to our aid,altho she hadn't much experience with air awnings,she gladly came across to help and see if she could do it for us.

The site is spotless and yiu can always see a member of staff doing there bit in order to maintain its up keep.

Great fish and chips from the van on a Friday night.

This is our go to site in future if we are wanting a short break as we don't live to far away.

We will definitely return but will avoid school holidays and weekend as too many noisy children riding round on scooters.

Don’t think there were enough 5mph signs and some vehicles were going too fast with children about.

Great location to Rother Valley water park and a great friendly site.

My only negative is there is very little food options in the cafe bar. The prices were good for the drinks in the bar and the fish and chip van was also very reasonably priced with good food. Fish and chips are only on a Friday and the Q was huge. Only seemed to be 1 serving yet had 4 staff there.

I was told there is a pizza van on Saturday but only in peak season.

There are plenty of delivery options from various takeaways around the surrounding areas so always some options if you don’t take enough of your own food.

The showers blocks were very clean and the water was more than hot enough.

Stayed for a couple of nights again whilst visiting family nearby, best facilities of a campsite weve visited in over 7 years of loads of sites, staff friendly and we even had a bit of entertainment thrown in from an overzealous / busy body who couldnt help himself pick an argument with another camper over an air con unit noise and wouldnt let it drop. The entrance driveway to the Park is ANPR,check in is very quick.The pitches are very spacious,we were on a fully serviced pitch which was great. The facilities blocks were plentyful and very clean even though the site was extremely busy upon our trip. Plenty of accessibility bathrooms. Costs were reasonable too at £32 per night. Extra £5 to select your spot. Cheaper than most albeit last days of the season. Great for walking around Rothervalley Country Park. Great bike tracks too for the kids. Staff friendly and courteous. Be wary though they want to charge £5 for any visitors you have. This can be circumvented by limiting any visit to 20 minutes. We came here when it first opened and keep going back. The facilities are excellent and maintained superbly. Have stayed here a number of times, the first being just a few weeks after it opened and thought then when the trees and bushes have grown and established themselves this would be a wonderful site.

We returned earlier this year and as thought the site now looks great with the hedges separating the pitches and the trees now having a presence so booked again for August Bank Holiday.

The pitch sizes are brilliant, the largest we have come across when on a super pitch and give plenty of space for car, caravan, awning and in our case a dog pen. The site is large enough to pick which type of spot you would like quiet in our case, or close to the children's play area or reception / café /bar.

The facilities, toilet blocks look as new as when first opened and are of a very high standard and the reception area with its outside seating and look over to Rother Valley is great.

Would have been 5 stars but both toilets ran out of toilet paper during the busy Bank Holiday....Read less.

We have been at wales wood a number of times,with no problems but on the early hours of Sunday morning the caravan down from us on the opposite side had a party security had been called from a nearby caravan and security was trying too deal with the rowdy family we asked them politely and then all hell broke loose they were threatening and wanted to fight my husband this is not acceptable when you are on holiday specially when he had just got over cancer....Read less.

It would be nice to have a restaurant serving meals - when visited previously a couple or 3 years ago full breakfast was available and light meals until 8.30pm - although this time we used the waterfront to eat having a husband who’s mobility is not 100 % the climb back up was very demanding. We've been coming to waleswood for a good few years now,we come as a couole, or bring our grandchildren and friends,but over the past few times,we haven't been able to sit in the bar area ,as there aren't enough chairs,. We noticed that there was plenty of space to facilitate more tables and chairs ,im aware buildings have to adhere to health and safety,but as the complex is quite big,it should st least be able to facilitate for the number of guests.

Especially on days when its bad weather, in addition its more profit for the bar.

I also remember getting discounts from being a returning customer and there been nothing like this for a good couple of years, other campsites do this as its just a kind gesture for the returning customer....Read less.

I had 3 showers, on 2 the water was tepid at best but mainly cool. There are only 4 showers for ladies and 4 in gents. Yet how many were in showers had no effect on water temp. I left a night early due to showers.

Also the behaviour of other campers, the no noise after a certain time is a joke. They just cut across your pitch when path is one metre further and the teenagers are running riot around the facility block, particularly in the evening to say there is supposed to be security in reception opposite. One evening 5 youths came running out of gents as if they’d done something untoward and didn’t want to be caught. The following evening they had a water gun which they’d filled with urine!.

The Reception staff were youngsters, who also appeared to be working in cafe. They appeared uninterested and there was no welcoming vibe. I will not be returning and do not recommend it....Read less.

I want to highlight a few issues this stay.

The noise levels were awful. There was a group nearby who as were screaming, shouting and partying with kids clearly present and at times sounding distressed into the early hours. The parents were evidently intoxicated and it sounded like an uncontained situation. This continued for 3 nights and despite raising this we didnt feel we got a satisfactory response and we and others visitors felt very unsafe.

Most concerningly they had two large Dobermans with them who have repeatedly (5+ times a day) been let to run free around the area. We have witnessed the dogs chase other peoples children (kids screaming) with them having little to no control of the dogs....Read less.

My pitch was parked on all weekend by campers at pitch 120 to 122. It was also a wet weekend so i decided not yo itch but travel in each day. My friends on pitch 58 were very sccommodating BUT they were kept awake on Sat night due noisy neighbours unti 01.30 am Security were called and stopped the rave eventually.. just yo top it said pitch 120+ left a load of stuff on the pitch i should have used. This was embarrassing when i was chased about it....Read less.

Always enjoy Waleswood, site always well presented and staff on the whole helpful and pleasant. However the August Bank Holiday weekend stay was really let down by inconsiderate fellow guests that had no thoughts of other people by playing loud music, letting dogs run free and shouting, screaming and making noise until the early hours ( in particular on Saturday night until 2am ) at the bottom of thd site around pitch 45. Calls to security were needed to finally put a stop to the noise. Really disappointing as this should not happen and security should be patrolling, not have to react to a call at 1.30am. I complained to the supervisor on Sunday morning expecting the people to be asked to leave as per the Campsite rules. They were not and I was really disappointed with the way the incident was handled. This did spoil the stay somewhat which is areal shame as overall the site is great and we enjoy staying there....Read less.

The campsite was lovely clean and quiet when we arrived midweek and as it got busier over the bank holiday, we noticed a lot more mess in the toilets specifically which was a shame.

We had a great stay, we came with friends for a week. The weather was beautiful and the facilities on site were lovely and clean however the last two nights we had a caravan opposite who showed no consideration for others and had music blasting from 5pm the first night security came and told them to turn it off at 12pm, yes that's reasonable as we have done the same on holiday enjoying ourselves but the last night after security had already been once the party was still in full swing in the awning at 2.30am! Fighting outside with others who complained to the owner of the van and security no use what so ever stood there just shouting no no no! Finally at 4am all was quiet!! We had to be off site for 12 that morning so was very tired my husband went up to the office to raise our frustration to find the lady in the desk no help what so ever in fact she wasn't really bothered that we had been kept up all night or our frustration of the dogs loose and fouling all over...Read less.
