There's every reason to use Herding Hill as a base to explore the Hadrian's Wall World Heritage Site. The accommodation/camping is varied - mix of luxury lodges and wooden pods with hot tub to motorhome, caravan and tent/tipi pitches. Great facilities, easy access to walk to the Wall within 10 minutes, or use the AD122 bus to get to all the main sites. Bring provisions - the on-site shop has some useful items, but advisable (and encouraged) to support local traders in nearby Haltwhistle or Hexham if travelling on the A69 from the east, so stock up there. The nearest pub, The Milecastle Inn, is just a five minute walk. Overall, can't fault the facilities or location.
