Easy to find thanks to the very clear directions on the site - we arrived a little before check in and were able to park up at reception and walk into Huthwaite village where we had a few refreshments at the Plum & Partridge and even received a discount on our bill as we were staying at The Hideaway. Everything was explained very well at check in and the walk down the board walk to the Treehouse is beautiful. slight hiccup as the hot tub was not switched on - but that was easily sorted - do check as soon as you get there. Lovely kitchen area and large fridge freezer and a wine/bottle fridge- not much space for storing any other food you have brought with you but it wasn't a problem. Slide to the hidden room was fun although there wasn't a key to open the door to the outside so we had to climb back up the slide via the steps at the side. Log store very handy - worth asking at the shop if there's any kindling to get the log burner going - it took us a while but it was lovely once we got it going. Fire pit in the private wood was fabulous - watch out as the lights are on a timer - they went out when we were at the fire pit and someone had to walk back down to the switch to put them back on - take a torch or at least your phone for some light if this happens - adds to the atmosphere though. Alexa in the treehouse is a nice touch - we didn't even turn the TV on ffor the entire stay and just chilled out with music. Although there are a few hangers and there is one chest of drawers in the mezzanine bedroom there's not a lot space to hang clothes - we tended to keep things in our cases (5 adults) and managed fine. Lovely toilet and shower room and also a little outside toilet by the hidden room with a radiator - both very clean. we used the Hideaway toilets when we arrived because we were early - they were also very clean and tidy. All in all a brilliant stay, it's not cheap to stay at Rufus's Roost - but it is good value for money and everyone was very chilled out as we left - I would certainly stay again. Only slightly negative observation is that the outdoor pizza oven does look very old and rusty - we didn't use it or plan to use it so it was fine - but be aware if it's an important part of your stay. Huge range style oven in the kitchen is more than adequate though. Great location for days out - 20 mins to York Park and ride which is great value - lovely walks round the White Horse at Sutton Bank and a short drive out to some beautiful sites like Reivaulx Abbey and Bylands Abbey.
