We chose Holme Valley based on its price and that several friends had stayed and liked it. We stayed in the May half term between Mon-Fri. We were made very welcome and I cannot fault the staff on site or the pitches themselves. Very spacious & well maintained. The site is clean and in the main it is quiet. The shop was well stocked and the bathrooms were pleasant. There is a lovely river at one side of the campsite, I would recommend a walk through the woods and onto The Rock Inn, for good, cheap food and great service.

A few disappointments though...The Kampers Kitchen was not open, strange considering it was half term week and the site was full. I understand they only open at weekends. We would've made good use of that!

The washing up facilities weren't good, you had to keep the tap held in to get any amount of hot water, and even that didn't last. This is fine if you are just rinsing dishes, but we like to cook every day and there just wasn't enough hot water to get anything clean.

On the subject of noise, although it was a generally quiet site, we were disturbed 2 nights by loud noise from adult parties and also children on the park, well after 11pm, there was no warden around so I had to sort it myself.

This is definitely a 'weekend' site and we would probably come again but for a shorter time.
