Ardtower provides clean and tidy facilities and in a super location with a lovely view over the Moray Firth. However, it seemed to me that tents have been given little consideration in the planning of this site. The small patch of grass, known as the tent pitch, was at the highest most exposed part of the site, on a sloping, stony grass. It is the furthest away place from toilet facilities and the kids play park. The playpark is positioned furthest away from the tents, right at the entrance to the site, across the site entrance road, making it a little hazardous and making the children a little vulnerable as they are close to the main road and passers-by. There is a lock at the highest part of the toilet doors and a sign saying "no unaccompanied children". In reality, this means EVERYTIME one of my children needed the toilet, I had to drop everything and take them from one end of the site to the other. Very inconvenient, when cooking or putting up the tent!

That said, both the ladies working at the site are very friendly and helpful, when approached.

If I had a motorhome, with grown children, I suspect I would have enjoyed my stay, but I'll be looking elsewhere if I bring my tent back to Inverness.
