We had a problem in the night with a terrible sickness bug. We spoke to the lovely staff in reception who were really helpful and couldn't do enough to help us. They were great. Managed to change our wookey hole booking so we didn't miss out and arranged to keep us here another night so we could visit. They were brilliant. The actual place itself is in a beautiful location with great views. The swimming pool was a big bonus with a young daughter and overall the facilities were great. Thanks so much. My wife and I have stayed several times at Bucklegrove in recent years and have always been very satisfied with the facilities and with the comfort of our lodge. We travel fairly regularly from Ireland to visit relations in the UK. Whenver possible, we also try to fit in a few of the Somerset Winter Carnivals during November - in which case Bucklegrove is an ideal "launchpad" for us to see these spectacular events.

We wanted somewhere to stay for our last break away before we winterised our motor home and, as many of you will have experienced, finding somewhere still open late in the season is not an easy task!

When we go away for a long weekend we like to go within a 2.5 - 3 hour drive away and so Bucklegrove fit the bill on several levels.

We like to have either a serviced pitch or, at the very least, electrics, and Bucklegrove offered us the option. We went for a serviced pitch and had fresh water, waste water and electrics on our pitch. The chemical waste disposal was quite a distance from our pitch which, in the delightful November weather, was fun, but it was not unreasonable.

The WiFi was pretty impressive and, when we found ourselves holed up inside with the rain lashing down, we were able to stream a film from Netflix and it didn’t buffer.

The washroom facilities were exceptionally clean and they had thought of everything by supplying a bench to store your clothes on as well as a squeegee to use to push all water down to the drain and away from the floor, following your shower. It does look like they are working through and improving the facilities, as the first shower I went into had a pull cord for the light and the level of lighting was quite low and the shower flow was non existent and the shower head looked like it was in need of attention as it was at an odd angle, so, I moved everything across into the next cubicle and was delighted to have instant bright light as soon as I walked in and a good quality pressure from the shower. I had intended to mention the shower that was in need of TLC, but due to the weather, I scurried back to my pitch and then subsequently forgot.

The site itself looks like it has a few facilities that would prove an asset to families, but we did not use them and so I cannot comment, we were disappointed in ourselves for forgetting that there was a pool and had forgotten our swimwear, as, with the wet weather, the pool would have given us somewhere to go. With the play area, pool and onsite restaurant, (only open Fri-Sun out of season), we imagine the this site would get fairly popular in school holidays and main season weekends and I’m not sure I would want to be on site when it was full.

The pitches are a reasonable size and they have done an excellent job of levelling them, despite the gentle sloping of the ground and it is small things like this that make the campers life so much easier, when wheel chocks/ramps are not needed. We stayed in Strawberry Field but took a walk around the site and saw the alternative hard standing pitches at The Grove, we feel that the two areas don’t compare and that maybe The Grove could do with some attention to make it a more attractive area, as it felt very squashed in and some pitches in quite undesirable locations, (maybe some small hedging to break up the pitches and add some colour and visual interest to quite a bland field, but that is our own preference and this area may be a big appeal to larger groups going away together?). There is a small woodland walk that has been adorned with dinosaurs hidden in the vegetation, this was a nice place to walk the dog as it was protected slightly from the weather and the path was covered in mulch etc, so was less muddy underfoot. Our dog, Bentley, found the dinosaurs alarming on his first walk, but, by the end he was going up to them to show how brave he was!

Finally, and by no means the least impressive, the staff and the booking process. We booked through Pitchup and received a confirmation email but we then received a follow up email from Bucklegrove giving us some detailed information on the best route in to the site, due to some roadworks and diversions, it was extremely helpful and informative. On arrival we were greeted by a lovely lady who was friendly and gave the impression that nothing was too much trouble. Although we didn’t use it, the camp shop looked well stocked with a variety of merchandise. The reception was adorned with decor from Halloween which showed their sense of fun and we can imagine that any children who had been on site would have had a great time. When we left the site, there had been a power failure, probably due to the roadworks, and so the security barrier would not lift, this meant that the wardens had to come out in the pouring rain and physically unscrew and remove the barrier so that we could exit....which they did with a smile on their faces.

Firstly, the staff were all very good, helpful and polite, There were a few times when we had to go to reception to ask questions and the guy in there was very helpful each time. We went to the bar a few times and the staff in there were also nice and polite,

When we visited, there was a cold snap in the area which caused a ground frost to be present in the mornings.

On our first day we went to the pool. The pool water was warm but the building was cold so we didn't stay there too long as my children were getting cold.

That evening we went to the bat as there was pumpkin carving and other Halloween events going off. Again, the staff were really good with the children and couldn't fault them at all. The room though could have done with being a few degrees warmer. We ended up putting our coats on, and on looking around, other's had their coats on also. There was a log burner in the corner but not lit.

My children ended up eating in the bar as time was getting on (we ate back in the caravan). I personally thought the price of food was extortionate for what it was. £6+ for a child's pizza (about 5" diameter). Bar prices though were very reasonable - so well done Bucklegrove for not following the pattern of other campsites.

A few days later we used the pool again. This time the building was warm, along with the warm water, this made it a much more pleasurable experience - we ended up staying their much longer this time.

We went to the bar again that night, I tried all the radiators and they were just warm, but, the building was warm enough to take our coats off this time. There was a table set up in the corner with" colouring-in" laid out for the children which was a nice touch. My children played pool (£1 a game) but we did not eat there this time.

The only other point I would like to make is there was not any heating in the toilet block either throughout our whole stay. The toilet block was not freezing, and the showers were warm, it was just a bit chilly after the shower getting dressed and when visiting the toilets. The toilet block was clean, but quite dated.

Yes we would return, but not this late in the season....Read less.

Playground facilities were rather limited. Even a couple of swings would have been an improvement.

Although access to Wi-fi/superfast Broadband is clearly advertised on your website, in reality it was virtually impossible to get even a barely acceptable connection. Unfortunately, as mobile phone connection is very patchy in the countryside (depending on one's network supplier), this meant that it was almost impossible to be in contact with the "outside world". As we were holidaying with our 2 young grandsons for the first time, it was important to be able to keep in contact with their parents, which we thought we would be able to do via Facetime utilising the promised "superfast Broadband".

Otherwise, we were more than happy with the accommodation and the site in general, which we chose specifically for the convenience of visiting Wookey Hole nearby, where we spent a very rewarding day....Read less.

first impressions were good. Easy to find, good location in terms of access to attractions such as Wookey, Wells etc and lovely views. Useful shop on site and facilities such as pool and games room and restaurant. Washrooms could have been a bit cleaner. The area and location of the site was good. Although the site is a little tired looking and needs a bit of an upgrade. The touring toilets were cold. Not very well heated and the shower water wasn’t that warm either.

The swimming pool cleanliness needs improving and regular checks to keep it clean from mud and grass. Toilet and shower facilities attached to the pool need inmoroving too. Don’t think it helps the restaurant/pub use the same toilet facilities as the swimming pool. Should have separate toilets.

Was a lovely site, but we stayed in The Grove part of the site & in all honesty, we didn't find it great.

No dog walking field. We were directed to a gate behind a static caravan, which took us out onto a lane, which is used for traffic. Only found 1 dog bin & that was situated right outside the washing up area. Not pleasant. Because of these reasons, we were very disappointed that we had paid £12 for our 2 dogs.

Also, it says you get free WiFi, but we had a hedge next to our caravan & couldn't pick it up.

I booked this campsite about a month or two before the arrival date. Researched it, had good reviews, had a swimming pool, a pub and restaurant. It was also close to Wells, wookey and Cheddar, so quite central. But the main reason we had booked this campsite was because of the bar and restaurant. When we had arrived, we were greeted by a gentleman who was very nice and informative. But he had informed us that the pub was actually closed the nights we were staying. As you can imagine, we were gutted, as that was the main reason we chose this place. So we googled to see the nearest places to go for a drink and some food, which was 0.5miles or 0.9 miles the other way. Which isn't far really, but the roads have no pavements and is a very main and dangerous road to walk. The buses run pass the campsite, and there's a bus stop on both sides of the road. But unfortunatly, one way the buses stopped at 17:45 and the other 20:10. So as a young couple we walked the road, down to the nearest pub for food and some drinks, we ended up leaving around 7:30 as it was getting dark, and the road was bad enough in the daylight, so we decided not to risk it. I'd say its okay for families who aim to be home at an earlish time, they could catch the bus or drive, but this time of year, it's not recommended unless you are looking for a very quite time. Overall a lovely campsite, but unfortunately we had to leave a night early as it was boring without any entertainment or anywhere to go....Read less.

I cannot comment on the children's facilities as we didn't have any. Originally we were directed to a pitch at the top of the site which was totally unsuitable for a large twin axle caravan. The member of staff came up as we were setting up to see if we were ok. We said we could manage however we were under the impression that we had booked a fully serviced site (my mistake). He immediately said he did have two available by reception and we could go there if we wanted. We gratefully accepted his offer and moved. We fully expected to pay extra for this but he said it was ok. The new pitch was very good and everything nearby. The swimming pool was great and we did visit on 2 occasions. The shower block/toilets were good and very clean. Our waste water pipes were not long enough and we asked at Reception if they sold them, they didn't but the young lady kindly gave us the postcode of a supplier at nearby Axbridge where we could purchase them. We could not fault the staff in anyway and they were always cheerful and helpful. We visited Burnham on Sea, Frome, Weston Super Mare and Wells, all within easy reach. Brilliant! This site was recommended by two of my friends who have static caravans on the site. They are always saying how nice it is so we thought we would give it a go. We would definitely go back next year, probably at the same time of the year as the children are back in school and we prefer the quiet. We took the dog too and although there isn't a designated walking path, it was good enough to walk her around the site....Read less.

I've camped all over the SW this summer and am well aware that the heat and sun have not been kind to grass pitches. However, the site still looks tired and not very well cared for, with weeds all over and 'hardstandings' for cars being unnoticeable at first glance due to being grown over. The dinosaur models on the trail are very tired looking, with some of them damaged.

The Reception team were very friendly dealing with me and others, and they happily accommodated my request to change pitch. My daughter and I ate in the on-site restaurant and spent many hours in the pool - she loved it! The pool changing area/toilets are a little run down though, and we preferred to walk through the site in our costumes and use the main block, which was a higher standard.

The site is off a main road and a handy sign saying 'next turning' is hidden behind the advertising signage, which is a bit dangerous! I would not advise leaving the site and going for a walk from the main entrance, but the reception area has details of how to leave on foot via a quieter route.

I think the site is a little overpriced for what it is, but we shall probably be back as my girls would love it and the on-site restaurant did great food....Read less.

Dear Linda,

Thank you for your review and feedback.

We are glad you appreciate our special location, it is truly stunning.

Our Park is maintained by a team to ensure all areas are kept tidy and clean. After the long spell of hot weather, followed by a sudden downpour meant everything grew, quickly! Our team worked hard to keep everything in order, whilst endeavouring not to interfere with guests staying.

We are a family-owned Park and really hope our enthusiasm shines through to our guests.

We camped for a long weekend with our 2 year old daughter in September. The park was easy to find, very clean and well maintained. I would say it's an ideal place for mature couples or those seeking a quiet retreat. Fabulous location with a new park entrance and some holiday lodges but I have a caravan and that part of the site is not up to scratch at all. Although it's advertised as dog friendly if like me your dog needs actual exercise you will have to brave the Somerset roads!! . I found one dog bin on site. I searched for somewhere to stay and booked here after reading good reviews. We were not disappointed, the views from the site were incredible and a helpful staff member booked us in and told us where our spot was. We were very pleased to find the pool was heated and indoors too! Such a bonus for a campsite!! We did stay on a week day so sadly the restaraunt was not open, you can drive into town but being in a camper we prefer to set up camp and not have to pack everything away to go find food. I would suggest a small takeaway menu in the week and more variety in the on site shop, to solve this only problem. We arrived on a bank holiday Saturday and the Tor View field was very busy and space for a group of families limited, it steadily emptied out during the next few days. The field has nice views but few level pitches, the level bottom end is very close to the busy A371. The toilet and other facilities are in the more formal Holiday Park (not our cup of tea, but if you are into static caravans and electric hook-up touring pitches, I'm sure you would like it). The on-site bar and swimming pool were useful on the very wet Sunday with two bored small children. On the whole, on-site behaviour was good with drivers recognising there were a lot of children about (apart from one **** who thought it very entertaining to skid around on the wet grasses, thankfully the site manager intervened and he left the next morning). The site staff were good and friendly, the facilities clean and rubbish cleared away daily. The only negative was the fact it is very expensive on the Tor View field (can't comment on costs for the serviced pitches), at £37 a night, we have stayed in better for significantly less....Read less.

The park is dated and in need of some major modernisation. This wouldn’t have bothered us if the facilities had been clean and the touring fields looked after and maintained. The shower block in The Grove field was filthy dirty and resembled public toilets. The larger block nearer reception was marginally better but still in need of a good clean. The Grove field where we were allocated a pitch was not a pleasant environment and looked like a municipal playing field not relaxing or inviting and I certainly not somewhere I would want to sit out in my deck chair. We had visited Bucklegrove a few years ago and were looking forward to returning, however we were disappointed this time, the park seems to have more seasonal pitches with caravans than it does pitches for other visitors, more static caravans have been put in in the camping area and we were pitched next to one which had a hot tub which was left on a wuring all night, quite annoying. The pitches aren't very big either (even the comfort pitch.) The pitches are terraced and once your tent and car on pitch doesn't leave much room to sit out. The comfort pitch had its own water tap and electric hook up and gravel parking space but the pitch size wasn't much bigger than our friends standard pitch.

I think this site is more suited to caravans which don't need as bigger pitch as a family tent. Although one of the hard standing pitches was very close to the door to the male toilets which I wouldn't have been happy being there.

If you're after a static caravan they looked nice, although close together and some had hot tubs. The pool/s were very small and busy and you had to accompany under 16's which is bit daft for our 15year old swimmer.

The site however was clean and tidy and we didn't have to queue for showers or toilets. We didn't use the shop or bar so can't comment on those.

The location is great for exploring the local area, just a short drive to Cheddar, Wells, Glastonbury etc.

We did think it was also expensive.

Had a lovely visit to the campsite, stayed in tent in the field. Staff were helpful and friendly when needed. Has an onsite Lodge providing good bar food and drinks. Did not visit the pool as was pretty much full with children most of the time as expected. However, the facilities use for the pool and lodge during the time of pool use became messy and very wet under foot which is not suitable for those just using the lodge which the pool is attached to. Labelling of water would be helpful as there were no indications of what was ok for use for drinking water. There was a tap on the entrance to field and was not labelled for drinking water, and not labels on the waste disposal area and taps there. These may seem minor but you need to know what is suitable for drinking. Laundry facilities good, as was wash up area. Due to size of site recommend they could expand their personal washing facilities as main block only has 3 showers which is probably not enough for size of site especially when field is full.

We had a great time, the bar and pool were great, little shop had most items you'd need.. the only things I'd say niggled me but isn't really an issue, the wasps were everywhere, mainly due to some sort of wasp traps but the gaps were huge so wasps could climb out again.. maybe they weren't traps, so in that case praps shouldn't be put near busy bar area. also grass was pretty non existent on the pitches I spose due to busyness quite annoying when mud gets everywhere. Well placed park for Wookey Hole and Cheddar Gorge, although we drove ourselves in a motorhome, The roads are narrow and caution is required as lorrys passing did not slow down.We did consider Taxi's as attractions are very close but was advised that Taxis are unreliable. On site shop is limited to very basics and nearest place for newspaper is just under a mile on a narrow fast road.

Camp is clean and tidy and has a nice small swimming pool, which is ideal for children, ours 5 and 7 years old., unfortunately other users were not considerate and ignoring very large signs saying no Diving and Ball games. We did not stay long in pool....Read less.

We had a pleasant stay with our three grandchildren for a long weekend, however our stay was marred on the last night by some'newby' campers who didn't seem to understand that when camping you can hear other people through a tent! Our two grandsons were playing cards with us at about 8.30pm!! but apparently were making too much noise, although our 2 year old granddaughter was able to sleep in our tent whilst they were playing!! Our neighbours children must have been very light sleepers is all I can say and as far as we could make out on the campsite conditions quiet time is after 12pm to 7am! We stayed at Bucklegrove last year and our grandchildren requested to come back this year; so we did. We had a luxury 3 bedroom caravan which was spacious and well appointed , and very comfortable. The kids loved having their own bedrooms and enjoyed the hot tub spending lots of time in it. My only criticism is we had no where to dry wet towels and swimwear as no airer or wash line but we got over that by using the veranda rails.

The site is small and friendly with a good mix of camping / touring pitches and static caravans. Clean and well maintained too with a small (though expensive) site shop.

Plenty of local attractions and places to visit within easy reach too so Bucklegrove is a great place to stay....Read less.

We have camped/caravaned since the nineteen seventies. Over the years we have noticed in general an improvement in site cleanliness and toilet facities until we arrived at Bucklegrove. The site was back to the seventies!!! The top camp field had only two female showers, three toilets ( one of which was closed off during part of our stay) and no wash cubicles . Really enjoyed it, great for kids. Felt totally at ease, letting them go to the play area by themselves. Lovely swimming pool. Nice little play area next to the bar, where all the kids played lovely together.

Ordered food from the bar on the first night as we'd not bought any supplies. Initially thought food was overpriced, but ones we saw portion size - it was justifiable. Hot dog with pulled pork and stilton - amazing!

Bucklegrove Campsite has really changed over the past 14 years and not for the better. During our stay in August 2018, there was only luke warm water in the showers from 7.50am onwards which by 9.30am was actually running cold. The cleanliness of the campsite as a whole as gone down in the those years. There were never cigarette buts around the grounds or overflowing rubbish bins which we saw this year. The showers or the washing up area have not been refurbished in a number of years and are now looking very tired. Weeds have been left to grow around the campsite. Our initial booking was messed up and we did not get the pitch we wanted. We found the office staff who are the first point of call unhelpful. I fear that since it has been purchased by the Wookey Hole Resort it has become part of a corporate world that has lost it's warmth and charm and just out to make a buck. It states that Bucklegrove is dog friendly. It is not dog friendly as there is no where to walk a dog. The wifi was on the whole unavailable. Check in was quick and easy and we were even let on the pitch earlier then we expected. Man at the front desk was very friendly and helpful when we had an ant problem and tent pole situation :)

Facilities were clean and all good working order. Showers/taps were hot no matter what time of day and didn’t lose pressure when all in use at once. The 2 separate sinks in cubicles is a brilliant idea. The extra room and place to put your clothes/toiletries etc in shower rooms is fab! Only downside is the parents who let their children run riot in the toilets to mess around with the soap and tissue!

Didn’t go into the lodge as we were so busy during the day we just wanted to sleep. But have no doubt it would have been a friendly welcome. Upside is it closes at 11pm so no noise after that, not that we heard much at all (apart from some snoring lol) and the campsite was actually one of the quietest I’ve stayed on which is a massive plus for us.

No lifeguard at pool which isn’t a downside as we enjoy going as a family. However no under 16s are permitted and sadly this rule wasn’t adhered to by some families and again kids were let lose to mess around and ruin it for others. Safety guidelines and rules are there for a reason!

Really close to Wells and Cheddar, highly recommend visiting both and taking a day to visit Bristol Zoo too. Views from the campsite are stunning!

Overall I would definitely recommend Bucklegrove and will definitely stay there again :)...Read less.

The Bucklegrove website shows open grassed areas and plenty of space. We stayed at The Grove and have never had our caravan in a more depressing area. It felt as if we were part of a traveller community parked on wasteland. This area was a model of how to squeeze the maximum number of caravans and tents into the area available. I could understand that at the end of a hot summer the grass was scorched and things weren't as green as they might have been, however, it was good to see that the weeds were growing so abundantly. While it was high season we have paid about a third of this price to stay on some beautiful caravan parks. Unfortunately this one is not just tired, it's exhausted. Laundry facilities are excellent as are the dish wash. Unfortunately on this visit there was not a single day when the men's toilets by the main entrance were not smelly and unpleasant to use. I appreciate that the owners cannot control what other campers do but on this occasion I am presuming it was all down to the urinals. It appears they are not using the auto flush, presumably to save water, but if this is the case other measures should be put in place to keep them fresh. Bucklegrove is a nice site. My partner and I camped for a week and found the site to have everything we needed. Didn't have to queue to use showers, toilets, or sinks once which for peak season camping is quite unusual in our experience. There was a bit of a lack of I assume (hope) children not flushing toilets but this is not down to the staff. The facilities themselves were cleaned regularly by the staff, any issues were lack hygiene from other campers in between those cleans. The staff were helpful and approachable. We ate from the lodge a few nights. Once as a sit in meal which was very good, we both enjoyed lovely steaks, and a couple times as take away. No complaints at food wise it was consistently good, yes a little more pricey than you might pay in the nearby town but it's the price of convenience and we were happy support the business as it wasn't extortionate and was decent quality well cooked food. We enjoyed the entertainment on the Saturday night only wished there had been some maybe mid week as well. Swimming pool wise we didn't use it as it always looked quite busy when we went passed. We didn't book the site for the swimming pool, it is a small pool but in context of the park size it is reasonable and a nice extra. Our pitch was near the play park, so although during the early evening there was quite a bit of noise from the park and a few less well supervised children making a racket running around shouting throughout the site as whole, everything quietened down remarkably quickly at 10pm when the site asks for it to be. I don't know if this was a coincidence or not but it's was consistently noticeable and we don't mind a bit of noise early evening if you know it's going to be quiet at the appropriate time. Child supervision is not the site's job, what the site says it delivers in terms of facilities, quietness curfew, location etc. is exactly what it delivers in our opinion. Absolutely no complaints from us about the site and we would happily stay again if we were to visit the area again. We would also happily recommend to site to anyone looking to visit....Read less.

The father swearing at his young kids and the mother spend over an hour outside at night on the phone aggressively swearing loudly at whoever she was speaking to, fortunately both my young daughter’s were asleep by then (this was hardly Bucklegrove’s fault, just bad luck). The weather turned very wet with 40mile an hour winds predicted. As the pitch was very exposed we decided to leave early. As I was packing up one of the staff came out to help peg down a nearby tent that was starting to blow down due to the wind. This campsite has seen some downhill changes since being taken over. The cleanliness around the site in the bottom end of the campsite is up together however in the top part of the site it is appalling. The shower and toilet area is filthy even after it has been cleaned and the washing up facilities is enough to put anyone off going self catering in order to avoid washing up! The swimming pool changing area was also filthy on a number of occasions, not to mention the hair and dirty floors in the swimming pool area! Money, time and love needs to be put back into this once loved campsite, I doubt we will return!...Read less.

Stayed 4 nights at end of July, on Tor View camping field. Views great, camping field large and on a slope but plenty of room. Site nothing like as advertised on their website, showers/ toilet block tatty and smelly, never saw a cleaner over the 4 days we were there. Bar expensive, ate there on first night; as we were ordering, several people complained about wait of over 1 hour for their food, we were advised there would be a wait, which there was but food very good when it arrived. Toilet and changing rooms which are shared by restaurant and swimming pool were filthy, no soap in gents all the time we were there, despite informing staff. Cobwebs and dust all over the changing rooms and around skirting and skylights in swimming pool. In general, site looks run down and poorly cared for. The pitch were we were was noisy because of the road, and far from the facilities, though tere were few people. I had read that it was shady, and I couldn't see any shadow... Only faults were the price that I paid - £23.00 per night for a small tent and motorbike.

Pitch was infested with Ants. From the moment I arrived on the pitch everything was covered in Ants. Spent a lot of my time brushing Ants off the tent and from inside the tent, off food etc. I must say it spoilt a nice site in a nice area. We paid for a Fully Serviced pitch, the most expensive. For both weekends during our stay tents were pitched right opposite with cars parked in front of them on the narrow road in and out to pitch. We had to endure children up playing football as early as 7.30 am with the ball being persistently kicked under our caravan and onto our space with both the children and parents scrabbling to retrieve.

The toilet block was a long walk and was inadequate for the amount there, I hate to think how it is during the school holidays.

The rubbish area is also right down at the entrance and required you to drive down if you had any amount and although they said recycling the only bin for this was a bottle bin.

Also they charge for dogs but no poo bins on site told to put in rubbish by the only cleaner who went round in Land Rover.

All in all this was the worst place we have been to, and we were not the only ones who said never again our neighbors said the same.

This place seems to be plain greedy why the tents could not be away from the caravan pitches in the Tor field is beyond belief, probably too mean to electrify there.

The only good that can be said is that the food at the lodge was good, especially the fish and chips....Read less.

Our accommodation was brilliant, far more than we had expected from looking at pictures. If you really scrutinise the cleaning there were a few bits that could have been cleaner but we were happy with the clenliness.

Was a little inconvenient when they came to check the chemicals of the hot tub if your in it as you have to get out, maybe this could be done before 7am when your allowed to get in?

Thank you for your review and feedback, all comments are passed to the Park Manager for consideration. Our Housekeeping Team are rigorous in their duties, with daily cleans and spot check cleaning throughout the day. The Park has recently been taken over, with investment already spent on the infrastructure, re-decoration of the toilet and shower blocks, new boilers, new Bar and Restaurant, and further plans for development are in the pipeline. There are of course times in between the daily checks that guests use the facilities and areas can become dirty again, this is to be expected at a campsite, and we work hard to ensure all areas are kept and maintained as frequently as possible.

The weather has not helped the ground, this being beyond our control unfortunately. However the lovely run of sunshine we have had has made our outstanding views even better! We very much hope you enjpyed your stay in the area and hope to see you again in the future....Read less.

We stayed in Tor view field and had a flat spot to pitch in. The view was great and we were still close enough to the toilets for the kids to run to. They liked the playground and Dino walk but loved the pool. The main shower block was cleaned regularly and showers were in easy cubicles with plenty of hot water (no charge) so I ran down there for a shower after the pool instead of the one open shower in ladies changing room. Food was good at the bar and staff were very helpful. Plenty of sinks for washing up too. Some of the other areas looked more densely packed than our field (electric hook up areas for example) but overall a really nice site with plenty to do nearby as well. Having stayed on this campsite several times every year for the past 10+ years, we were disappointed with our latest stay. The pitch could have done with a tidy from previous guests as well as the grass being cut. Electric points very far away from our pitch. Had to ask at reception for an extension lead and was told that there was an electric point as it said so on the pitch layout map. But there was definitely not one there ! Made us feel as though we had made it up. Second night of our stay was awful. Noise, loud voices and loud music being played by another guest until 12.45 am. We informed reception of this the following morning and also mentioned this via email on our return and was told that the park was patrolled and the noise not heard and that we should have mentioned it there and then !!!!Did not see anyone, day or night, patrolling the park. Again we were made to feel as though we made it up. The overall friendliness/helpfulness is somewhat lacking. Toilets full of cobwebs. Toilet rolls not always there. The park lacks the personal touch and care of the long standing family run previous owners. We were offered tickets to Wookey Hole (Wookey Hole now own the park) as a "goodwill gesture" We extended our thanks for this but declined as we have been there several times. The reply via email was:" Since we have taken over the Park it has certainly got busier and we understand this may not suit everyone" We do somewhat disagree with this as in all the years we stayed, every pitch was taken!!! The toilet and shower blocks are deep cleaned daily and maintained throughout the day. There are of course times in between this where these facilities can become less clean, but this is normally rectified very swiftly. Thanks again for your comments....Read less.

We holidayed at Bucklegrove as it was a return to 1973 when my family came back to Weston from the Middle East.

We wanted to visit old haunts and attractions that we did all those years ago.

Bucklegrove is ideally placed for Weston, Bristol & Bath.

More local is the majestic Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole and the Cathedral in Wells.

The park is tidy, the staff friendly and knowledgable about the area and attractions. Shop is good for basics, the club house sells real ale and drinks are priced okay, but food prices appear steep.

It’s a great park in a fantastic location offering good facilities all round.

Will stop over again if visiting the area.

All was well until our 3rd night when a permanent caravan decided to be extremely noisy to 1am in the morning. Asuming they know the park ( they have their caravan permanently fixed there) and having children themselves, I was astonished at

a) the volume of noise

b) having to listen about a 75year old and how much viagra he takes (I mean seriously!!)

c) after politely asking them to be a bit more quiet they continued at the same level although they turned their light off (whoopie doo).

I probably won't come back which is a shame.

We took a chance on a last minute booking at Easter as the weather had been poor so we had to book a grass pitch not hard standing. The site is easy to find, in a great location for Cheddar and Wells, etc. There is a pub nearby, on site bar/restaurant and best of all a small pool to help entertain the children during wet weather. This is what made the site stand out and the reason we chose it. The staff were friendly and helpful, too. Some of the hard standing pitches are great with lovely views over to Glastonbury Tor. If you are lucky enough to get one of these then great, If not, you may end cooking and sleeping up on quite a slope as we did! The male showers were lovely and hot and, along with the pool, inclusive in the price, so no messing about with meters and coins or paying for extras. The ladies' showers never did get properly hot no matter what time of day we tried them. The site is fairly small and was very peaceful, despite being full. Our only negative is that compared to other sites it is possibly a little pricey for what is on offer but then you may be paying for the pool and onsite bar. A little levelling of pitches would not go a miss, nor would some drainage as many were waterlogged and out of action. Grey water waste emptying is by means of finding a drain to discharge into and freshwater is obtained by hooking up to someone else's supply on hard standing as there is no dedicated servicing point for tourers! Other than that it was a neat little camp site, which, if we were to return to the area we might book again, albeit with level hard standing!...Read less.

We had a brilliant few days away in a very well equipped and attractive mobile home with hot tube. The site was quiet and tidy. Accommodation very comfortable and the hot tube was not overlooked. The swimming pool although a little cool first thing in the morning was attractively arranged. We didn't try the restaurant as the prices looked a little expensive. Weston, Cheddar, Wells and Street are all nearby. The only downside was the fact that being fairly large people we quickly displaced the water in the hot tube and it was only topped up once a day!...Read less.

We chose Bucklegrove as it was a good midway meeting point between our daughter who lives in Cornwall and us in Bedfordshire. We chose this park because it had the accommodation we wanted and it had a pool. The caravan was lovely, well equipped, very clean and warm, (our stay was in Feb). The only downside I would say is the lack of space for changing for the swimming pool. The changing rooms were nice and warm though. However the pool was a little cool and the air temperature was a little too cool for me and for our 22 month old grandson. Overall we had a lovely break....Read less.
