Very clean and cosy. I stayed as was working in the area and chose this instead of a bnb. Although the site restaurant etc was shut in the week there were plenty of places to visit for dinner if you have a car. I chose to self cater in the caravan.

Shower was nice, bed very comfortable (I had a king size and all bedding and towels were supplied).

Nice and close to all the attractions in the area and great views stand walks from the park....Read less.

Only criticism would be mixed messages regarding dogs, literature stated no dogs in bar area, so we never went, only to spot a sign on the bar door saying dogs welcome but on the last day!

We had a very enjoyable stay and all the staff were very polite and helpful. In particular Sally was fantastic at keeping the children entertained. So much so that my daughter Freya insisted that we went to the club house to do the arts and craft. Sally also arranged a Halloween party for the children, which the Witch from Wookey Hole attended. Also two days before Halloween Sally arranged Pumpkin carving for the children. Gary who also worked alongside Sally played a big part in creating a good family atmosphere in the club house, and also providing excellent food.

All the front facing staff in the club house and in the office were excellent in providing us with an excellent stay.

My daughter Freya, and the friends she made at the site enjoyed the use of the Swimming pool even though at times it was cold. It was heated to a higher temperature towards the end of our stay.

Once we arrived we was greeted by a pleasant young lady and was very helpful, other than going into the reception/shop we did not see another person on site. we arrived early and was welcomed to stay until pitch available. once pitch was available we made our way to the serviced pitch that we booked and all looked ok other than the waste water drainage point being in the far left of the pitch you could not reach it unless you had 3 meters of waste pipe or put the back of the caravan in the hedge at the back of the pitch. the on site restaurant was closed the whole stay as their half term is a week later from my children and as we went mid week i understand you can not open at this time of the year for a handful of visitors. There are only 2 chemical waste disposal points which are at the 2 wash facility's which is fine if you did not have to carry such a distance as our pitch was at the furthest point away from these places. In regards to the wash/toilet facility's the showers were a good pressure and hot but this is where the good points stop, they were of a poor standard with plaster falling off the walls and dirty it just looked at these had not been maintained in a very long time the better block is close to reception which looks very nice from the outside. maybe think about shutting some windows to stop the bushes from growing through them and some paint i am sure they could look and feel much better. we did not spend much time on the site as we wanted to visit as much as we could in the surrounding areas and overall we had a great time and the location of the site was perfect. just if you are going to open during the autumn/winter months then the standards and focus should stay the same especially on the cleanliness and warmth of the facility's....Read less.

3. A member of staff was spraying weed killer around my van and the whole site. We stayed in Lodge 1 with our three grandsons. On the whole our experience was good, with an excellent hot tub cleaned daily, but we did have a few niggles for what is classed as luxury accommodation.

Firstly, it is a lodge to accommodate 6 people so it was a little annoying that there was only comfy seating for 4 in the form of two 2 seater sofas. We did expect a teapot to be included in the equipment provided but found none and also the glasses were mismatched and there was not 6 of everything like cutlery. Also a few lightbulbs missing or needing replacing in lounge/diner area.

The sanitary ware and kitchen appliances were all of good quality but we did have a problem with the towel ring in the bathroom which was not fixed and kept falling off the wall.

We also had a time-consuming problem trying to lock our verandah doors, although as soon as we reported it that was very quickly repaired.

We have done this kind of holiday with our grandsons for the past 9 years and there has always been at least one hand soap and a hairdryer...these two items would add greatly to what is meant to be a luxury accommodation.

Also the pool was small, unsupervised and overcrowded with children mainly jumping in making huge splashes which meant swimming was difficult if not impossible.

Internet also intermittent at best, even after a reboot by management....Read less.

Unfortunately for the first few nights there was a large group opposite us in 3 or 4 tents. They were all together and were noisy at night.

Children whizz around the site very fast on their bikes, its unsafe. And I was actually knocked over by 1 boy on his bike.

The swimming pool and changing area is awful. It all looks so dirty.

The showers etc need cleaning properly. There was mould behind the shower doors.

The wash facilities actually need a professional deep clean.

The site was ok, needs some TLC.

The bar was nice, with a good selection of drinks and food.

The area is nice. As a whole, although we think it needs a good clean we still enjoyed our holiday and would maybe return if we ho to the area again....Read less.

Thank you for your recent review of Bucklegrove.

What a shame it was to read your comments, we are sorry you did not enjoy your stay with us. We always rather you spoke with us at the time, for us to be able to try and resolve any issues.

Being the height of the season, our site was extremely busy, which may have accounted for the extra noise, however our security team do carry out evening patrols and will act on informaton given.

Shower and toilet blocks are of course cleaned and maintained daily, and throughout the day regulars are undertaken. We are sorry if you visited the blocks inbetween these times, when mishaps and dirt can be carried in, this is inevitable on a campsite, as I'm sure you'll agree. The regular checks usually take care of this without any concern, so we sorry if this occured during your stay.

The swimming pools are normally enjoyed by our guests, along with the play areas, The Lodge Bar and Restaurant and of course the beautiful views and surrounding countryside. We very much hope you enjoyed the area and managed to see and do what our county has to offer.

Thank you once again for taking the time to give your feedback.

A well placed site for easy access to many of Somerset's attractions, Wookey Hole, Cheddar Gorge, Weston Super Mare, Burnham on Sea, Brean Aquatic and Adventure Park. Access Roads the A381 an interesting challenge for Mobile Homes and Touring Caravans, but not as bad as some of the very rural lanes, Sat. Nav';s take you on.

It is a lovely Holiday Site, Social Facilities, Bar and Restaurant - fabulous when open after 6pm, however it would have been even nicer to have the restaurant open during the day for coffee, drinks and snacks whilst the pool was open and many users commented on this.

The site was a little unkempt, weeds, brambles, hawthorn branches with thorns littering the edge of the hedges and sticking in feet, shoes and children cycle tyres. The roadways were quite pot-holes and needed resurfacing. Toilet blocks could have been cleaned a little more thoroughly (although a lot was due to the numbers and users rather than the site operators) the showers (I can only reflect on the male side) were small the flooring poor in two out of three as it was coming away from the floor and there was nowhere to keep clothes dry. That said on the male side the water was hot and plenty of it. The family room had a bath a real plus for muddy children, well done Bucklegrove and at only a pound really good value. Launderette was small for the number of visitors and doubling up on the washer and dryers would be of benefit. Washing Up facilities, excellent, inside and gallons of very hot water. Elson disposal, out in the elements and really needs improvement, emptying waste into an open toilet bowl in the rain wasn't the best experience.

Staff were brilliant and even found as an early pitch due to arriving a day early!

We will be returning, but probably for a long weekend rather than a full holiday, but recommended with the above limitations....Read less.

We stayed for one night as a family in their ‘rent a tent’ option. The tent itself was ok, however, during the night my sons air bed went down until he was on the floor.

The bar was ok, could do with a refurb and the pool was not in a good way. Small main pool which was freezing and the second shallower pool, although warmer, was a milky green colour. My children used hen main pool for around 10 minutes, before a horde of kids arrived filling it, and being loud and unruly, which is a shame as my children love swimming and were looking forward to using the facilities.

Not a lot to keep children amused onsite, for us not a problem with teenagers, but no suitable play area for over 7s (only play area suited to the very young) . Would be great to see another area (swings always a hit!) to cater for all ages.

Would make a real difference to update smaller toilet/shower facilities in line with the large block - these are an important part of the camping experience!

Friendly staff, and nice sized site.

In my opinion just the two updates of the facilities mentioned above would increase the likelihood of people returning and recommending a stay here.

We stayed at tor view from august bank holiday for 1 week. We arrived at the earliest time for set up to discover that the majority of the pitch site was on a hill. The only flat area available was alongside the road, which was a busy road especially first thing in the morning. In my opinion the site was over crowded that weekend with no where near enough facilities. There was a period of time on the sunday morning for about 6 hours there was no toilet paper in the ladies loos. Overall a great campsite. Tor view was just what we wanted. The reception and restaurant staff were lovely and food was great. The facilities really let it down and that’s where I felt I had been over charged as I have stayed in nicer places for less a night. We stayed in our tent on the Tor View field and the views over the valley and over to Glastonbury Tor were fantastic. Watching the evening sunsets over the Bank Holiday weekend was definitely a highlight. Great campsite, although as to be expected for a sunny bank holiday weekend it was very busy, which meant the facilities were stretched - no toilet paper, long wait for showers etc. The pool was a great way to cool off on a hot weekend, although again, very busy as to be expected. The bathrooms and dishwashing area were kept clean - any mess/uncleanliness was more down to other campers.

I appreciate that at busy periods (mornings & evenings) you have to wait for a shower, but once we managed to get into the cublicle the water pressure in the showers was very poor. If one of the 3 showers was being used it took all the water, which made showering with a reluctant 6 year very protracted and stressful....Read less.

We had a lovely week but it was dampened by lack of toilet and kitchen facilities cleanliness (often no toilet roll; we reported this to the Reception team on one occasion as toilets remained unchecked for at least 24 hours, according to the record sheet; at high season). Reception staff were not particularly knowledgeable or some approachable. Bar and restaurant staff were the friendliest, thank you. General upkeep could be improved and a few activities for the children would be a real bonus, as it advertises it as a family park and attracts many children to it due to the tourist attractions located around - the park has great potential. The Games Room advertised is merely a pool table in a room which is locked within the bar area and inaccessible during the day. The play area was modern and nice but we understand the fencing enclosure has been removed which dampened the safety of those within it. I felt my child was safe running around outside and going to the toilet on his own. The park contained every thing we needed, but I found the toilets and showers were clean some days but not every day. The swimming pool water seemed a little murky and it was a shame that there was no shower cubicles to wash in so that I didn't have to go to the other showers, getting dressed and then undressed again, or walking across wet and cold. The pitches were surprisingly close together, so we didn't get much sleep. Luckily we had nice neighbours. Food tasted good and was a reasonable price in the restaurant. Having the pool for the kids was great, the site was lovely and really well maintained. We didn't use the bar facilities but great to have them on site. Really good level pitch with nice hedges for privacy and windbreak from next pitch, lovely and leafy area. Very nice statics with hot tubs. Exterior to wash facilities looked lovely as it was nicely painted with beautiful flowers and it was lovely and close to our pitch. Everyone was respectful and no late noise. We had a lovely stay, thank you.

Few points:

The bathroom has a mop supplied but there is nowhere to clear the water too once it is outside of the shower compartment. Every time I went into the bathroom there were huge pools of muddy water because there was no run off or drain in the room. The water was a fixed temp, it was warm enough for a body wash but when washing hair it was not warm enough to maintain body heat and have a comfortable shower. The pressure on the shower nearest the sinks is very low. There was a car parked on the access track which blocked caravans from exiting. It was there for our whole stay and meant we had to make serious manouevres to get out of our pitch when, had we just had access to the main track, we could have left easily. Site management needs to ensure that cars do not block exit for caravans. We would definitely have stayed here again but the road leading up to the site is horrendous and lorries were getting stuck creating chaos so we had to do a huge detour to get home . This is a shame because this is nothing to do with Bucklegrove and more an external access issue that is outside of the control of Bucklegrove. I would definitely recommend it as a stay for statics as access easier without towing a caravan....Read less.

We stayed for 2 nights in August, arrived and was directed to our pitch by a helpful girl on reception. Camping field was nice and we got set up, toilet facilities were fine although could perhaps do with being slightly closer to camping field. Part of the reason we booked this site was because it had a swimming pool for the children. The pool was quite small which is fine, except the fact that some people were bombing into the pool and generally splashing which made it unpleasant for younger children. The changing rooms were also pretty grim and there was a drain full of mould and around the pool area was not very clean. We made a dash for the wash room in our swimwear rather than try and dry and shower there. Another slight bugbear was that you had to pay for hair dryers and plug sockets in the bathrooms. It wasn't a cheap site to stay at so i would expect these to be free. We also tried to take small children to the play area but it was small and overrun by older children running around not taking any care so we left, although this is down to parents not supervising rather than the park itself. It is a nice park, in a nice area so if we were over that way we may return but would hope for cleaner facilities next time....Read less.

The main toilet and shower blocks were ok but water flooded from the shower into the changing area making it difficult to get dressed and not get wet again from the floor. The smaller toilet block was covered in cobwebs and spiders and needed a repaint. The cabin we stayed in was spacious enough but everything was covered in cob webs. Some of the equipment provided was damaged and faulty. There was muck under the beds, the blinds were dusty and the windows hadn't even washed in goodness knows how long. Cosy cabin was dirty. Dirty mirror with splashes all over. Dirty cutlery. Dirty microwave. Cobweb with spider in cabin. The picture on website doesn't look the same. We thought the cabin was on flat ground so kids could play ball outside but couldn't as it's on a hill next to road. This needs to be stated on the website. Swimming pool and facilities need an upgrade. Swimming pool water looked dirty in small pool. Grass needed cutting around cabin. When it was cut it was only strimmed and left. We felt disappointed with this park when you compare it to the pictures on the website. The play park doesn't have a fence around it and its next to a road which I didn't like. Bucklegrove was clean and tidy. Pretty much on a par with other campsites we have stayed at in the past. The swimming pool was fun, but the changing area doesn't have any cubicles so I would recommend getting in to your costume before you go. on the last days of our stay the loos had ran out of toilet paper (only 1 had any left for over 24 hours) so this was disappointing. Visited with my Partner and two Grandsons from Wed to Sat at the beginning of Aug. We had a basic pitch in Tor view and were very happy. On Wed and Thur the site was reasonably quiet and the standard of cleanliness across the site was good. How ever as the site got busier towards Fri and Sat so the Site just seem to fall apart. Toilets and showers were a complete mess and according to the cleaning sign off sheet were not cleaned at all on Fri. All rules regarding the supervision of children in the pool, play park and generally throughout the site were ignored by parents and there appeared to be no attempt by site staff to enforce rules which are clearly spelt out in the booking terms and conditions along with signage around the park. Whilst I appreciate many of these problems are caused by the patrons the park has a responsibility to to react to the changing dynamics of the campsite and on this occasion in my opinion they failed to do so. Shame, because this campsite could be so much better....Read less.

We first stayed at this site in 2011 when run by a lovely family so we decided to return this year. I must say we were highly disappointed now it has been taken over. The bar food is extortionate prices for the food that is served, it was half the price previously. The park has been changed and no longer fenced off and now not really suitable for toddlers apart from a couple of rockers. The park mentions it is open from 8am till dusk yet way after dusk at 11pm there are still children running round shouting and playing, i know parents should have some control but it should also be mentioned to them by staff. Being on a pitch right next to the play area was not a good idea when trying to get a 2 year old to sleep. The shower facilities are ridiculous if you stand in the rain with soap you'll get a better shower as they decide to stop the running water mid way through showering, its as though when the tap on the sinks are turned on you need to spare your shower water for them. The shop is overpriced nearly £4 for 2 ice lollies and doesn't really stock much other than toys. All in all a very disappointing second stay now it has been taken over by a group I feel it is all for money making, not the lovely family run business it was previously....Read less.

The toilets and showers were disgusting. We didnt even have a shower the next morning due to the state of them.

Also with the amount of campers on the site. In our area there were only 2 showers in the Mens and 2 showers in the Womens. Between what easily must of been well over 200 people.

Obviously you have more showers in the main block, but they weren't our immediate ones.

I spent three nights in my motor home with wife and granddaughter in August. I had a fully serviced pitch. All I can say is that everything about the site needs a facelift, modernising and some attention to detail. The food in the bar / restaurant is poor - very bad value for money. The staff don't look as if they give a damn. The toilets and washrooms need upgrading and more regular cleaning than they seem to get. They were always dirty when I used them. The swimming pool is too small for the number of guests particularly at peak holiday time. There is no system to regulate the number of users at any time. We were attracted to Bucklegrove by its proximity to Wookey Hole and Cheddar and the fact it had a swimming pool - something our grandchildren were enthusiastic about.

The pitch was very small and none of the pitches appeared to be the optimum 6m apart (as recommended for fire spread prevention). Although there were two washblocks, the one near us only had two showers and three toilets in mens and ladies - which was heavily used. Toilet paper ran out - there was no sign over the three days that they had been cleaned.

The swimming pool was highly anticipated - and disappointing. There were lots of signs on what NOT to do - to the extent that I wouldn't have been surprised to see one that said "No Swimming"! The access into the pool was awkward - the distance from the pool surround to the step was quite a stretch for any but the totally fit.

The swimming pool changing facilities were basic and again didn't look as though they had been cleaned between our visits.

We bought food from the onsite restaurant - which was tasty and great to see all the menu available as a takeaway.

Camping Cabin was clean and spacious enough for our needs (3 adults, 1 child and a dog). Certainly a step up from our normal tent. Site went very quiet at night, although it was starting to get very busy when we left.

Shower and toilet blocks very clean, but only 5 showers across the two blocks for women. We saw the facilities being cleaned at lunch time, but by late evening a lot of toilet cubicles had run out of paper, so had to remember to take our own.

Very small indoor pool which is not supervised. Under 16s are meant to be accompanied by an adult, but a lot of older children were allowed to go on their own and there were no staff around to enforce the rules (no jumping, running etc), which made the pool a bit hazardous to other users at times.

We chose Bucklegrove as we had stayed previously. Our caravan is quite long compared to some so we’re really pleased that they could accommodate that as some parks put a limit on length. All the hook up access and water were really easy to find and use. The staff in reception were very friendly. We had one evening meal at the restaurant but felt it some dishes were a little costly for what you received , though the food was excellent and again staff were very polite. We used the swimming pool on one occasion which was lovely though I was a little disappointed with the changing facilities, which didn’t provide any privacy if required (separate male/female rooms but inside just benches and hooks , a shower and two toilets) and the floors were not the cleanest.

The park itself was lovely and there were some nice touches like the woodland walk with dinosaurs. It felt safe for the children to walk about to the shop and toilet facilities without needing adult supervision and was one of the reasons we chose to come back. The location is great for local tourist attractions Wookey Hole, Wells,Bath,Glastonbury,Cheddar Gorge and many other places. We easily found local supermarkets but were also able to buy basic items on the site at reasonable prices. We were given a 25% off voucher for Wookey Hole which was an added bonus.

We arrived on site &greeted by a friendly male staff member, we drove onto the camping area; both my wife & myself formed the opinion this was a very poorly maintained area of the site.

It looked very neglected, shabby & not at all what is now expected from customers, the hard standings were not maintained & weeds growing into them, the grass was not cut & maintained neatly; there seemed to be little order to the camping area.

We decided not to stay & move on to another recognised club site, I informed the same male who booked us in that we were leaving; he did not seem to concerned.

I struggle in over 20 years of camping to recall a less maintained, less loved site than this one.

We did not take a look at any other part of the site so cannot comment on other area's; the toilet block was also less than up to standard.

I would suggest the management visit other camp sites to get an overview of what is expected & what other owners are prepared to do in order to make their business appealing for guest to return....Read less.

We have been here before as a large group and really enjoyed it - I was really dissapointed to see the park was out of action for the whole time we were staying - we stay on site when we come and with young children were relying on the park for them - they were really upset that the park was out of bounds for the whole 3 days and this did affect our holiday, we would normally have used the bar and had food in the pub but didnt as there was nowhere for the children to play. I have still given a generally 5 star review because I do really like the park and would return....Read less.

We booked for 7 nights, Friday to Friday. The first issue we came across was there was no milk available to purchase from the shop and we were told there would be none available until Saturday! when you have traveled a few hundred miles to get to your stay at the very least the site should have basics available to buy for the incoming arrivals. ( The site bookings for a static are either, Fri-Fri, Fri- Mon or Mon -Fri.

The next concern was the bar and restaurant was only open over the weekend, so nothing available during the week. I would consider the end of June beginning of July to be within a mid to high season so these facilities should be there when you are paying the prices charged at this time of year....Read less.

The pool was closed for one day when we went to use it, but when open it is nice. The Showers in the ladies block, they got blocked and flooded the one day which was very inconvenient, however it was fixed by the next day. Facing the showers as you come in , the one on the right was absolutely freezing, one in the middle sometimes very hot and impossible to turn down, the one on the left was frequently messy as all the water from the other two showers collected in this one. The restaurant/entertainment is only open on a Friday and Saturday which is ok if you are there for only a weekend. On the upside the staff very friendly and eager to please. In general the site was not looked after ,everything scruffy poor customer relations ,as we were booked for three nights touring and left after one. When complaining we were told to complain via website as we asked for monies to be reimbursed. Having left and found an alternative campsite nearer to cheddar gorge , we were told by the owner that they have heard the same story over again as the owners are more interested in getting residential /static pitches rather Than tourers. The children's play area was under refurbishment and had been delayed due to very poor weather, however when complete will only add to the sites appeal.

Good bar menu available if your to lazy to cook, nice facilities, all clean and well maintained, showers were hot a, great place to stay.

The toilet block was not very clean and very tired and dated looking.

Facilties wise, the bar is only open 2 evenings a week and the playground was shut for refurb in June and looked very small. There was no children's entertainment. Yes there was a pool but I don't concider these small number of facilities to qualify for a Holiday Park.

We met really friendly and helpful staff on arrival, who were great. The site was quite quiet, which suited us. On-site security seemed great, with a gentleman regularly doing the rounds to check all was in order. The park was litter-free and had beautiful views, as well as well-kept hedges, shrubs etc. The pitch was a good size and well-maintained. It was a big shame that the play area was out of action, as this was one of the main draws for us. The staff said it was being refurbished, which is great for the future but a bit of a pain when your young children just need somewhere to let off steam before tea! The children did love the pool, though. It was clean and warm, if a tiny bit ‘unloved’ (main problem being a lack of safety cover on one of the overflow vent things, which left an unsafe-looking hole at eye level - a surprise, as everything else was well-maintained). Access to the pool was through two heavy doors with codes, so it felt very safe in terms of little ones. Whilst staying, we enjoyed visiting Wells with its stunning cathedral (the fun clock being a highlight) and Stourhead NT gardens about an hour away. Wells also has lots of places to shop and eat, and a huge green in front of the cathedral where the children ran and played. We got fab chips from a chippy on the main road to Wells in Shepton Mallet, too. We didn’t use the wash facilities, as we had our caravan. If they were anything like the rest of the park, they’d be well looked-after. Overall we had a good stay and would say it is worth a visit....Read less.

We were pitched right next to the children’s playground which is adjacent to the site pub. Every night we had to suffer the noise of children playing on the equipment until 11:30 pm. We have just returned from a 5 night stay at Bucklegrove camp site we were on a plus pitch with a tent. I choose the plus pitch for its convenience, we were a bit disappointed as the pitch was small and we just about got our tent on it. The water pressure was also so weak that we couldn’t use the tap and used the one on the neighbouring pitch when considering we paid a premium was disappointing. The toilet/showering facilities were dated and in need of a refurb in the grove field. The bar area was nice and the staff friendly. It was a shame the pool closed at 6pm as that was the time we got back to the camp site from a day out and the kids wanted a swim. We were allocated pitch 203 Strawberry which was probably the minimum size legally acceptable for caravans. However soon after we pitched up a small campervan pitched in 202 and erected a large awning. The wall of the awning was no more than 4 feet away from the side of our van - not ideal to say the least especially when the occupants slept in the awning and snored loudly. As the site was full there was no opportunity to relocate onto another pitch so we had to grin and bear it but in my view this was potentally quite unsafe in the event of a fire on either pitch.

The men's toilets were reasonable but the ladies were untidy on each occasion during our four night stay. The men's lacked locking bolts on most of the cubicle doors - a tent peg had to be taken to correct the deficiency. This was early in the season and surely one should expect this sort of thing to be corrected during the low season.

On a more serious note one of the transparent weatherproof lids protecting the trip switches on the service pod was missing leaving the trips open to the elements - potentially quite dangerous. This was reported and could have been remedied with a plastic bag quite simply but a day later nothing had changed.

We usually choose Caravan Club CL sites which accept a maximum of 5 caravans but chose Bucklegrove as there were facilities to keep our grandson amused who was in a caravan on the neighboring pitch 204 with his parents. As the booking was made by us for both pitches they will be leaving a Tripadvisor review but they were also not impressed by this site.

Needless to say we won't be coming back.

One good thing - the views from the camping field across the Levels were stunning!

The toilet/shower/cleaning block has been poorly maintained and needs a complete overhaul. Cleaning was not done regularly enough and was not thorough. It was skipped on sunday evening through to monday and as such the ladies ran out of loo roll.

The showers would work intermittently and so we eventually gave up trying.

The locks were broken on 2 of the 4 men's toilet cubicles. As such the operational toilets were ... well ... you can imagine.

There was rusting, leaky pipework and things not properly fitted.

After visiting and staying for 3 night's over Bank holiday the site is in a great location for local attractions.

We cannot comment on site food as we ate out at the Rodney stoke inn and it was fantastic.

The pitche we were on was of a nice size but did look a bit neglected.

If I were to reccommend a pitch I'd say in the strawberry field esp of travelling with children.

The bad point's.... the toilet blocks are def in need to modernisation. We we're in grove field and the shower head fell off and the shower curtain too short in one so flooded the floor. The following day we went to the other toilet block and sadly very big but shower not very warm.. on the plus side it was powerful. I'd recommend the site def for families as facilites lovely and pool is an added bonus.. for me it was the shower and toilet facilities let it down....Read less.

We spent three nights over the bank holiday weekend camping at Bucklegrove with family and freinds. The staff were very friendly and helpful, right from my intial call to enquire about availability to whilst we were there during our stay.

There are lots of atractions nearby including Wookey Hole caves and the City of Wells both of which we visited.

Osite the bar area is useful for evening food (i.e. Fish n Chips, Curry, Burger, etc including childrens meals and gluten free options) and a pint! There is also a pool table and swimming pool, although the swimming pool was very busy when we were there. The Shower / toilet facilities were good, always clean, warm and plenty of availability.

A nice well kept site with friendly staff in reception. We didn't use the pool as we didn't have young kids with us but those around seemed to be enjoying it. Our pitch was quite sloping so needed blocks to raise front legs which we didn't have so had to make a trip to the garden centre for some slabs as they didn't have anything on site. Bit gutted after a long BH drive but once sorted had an enjoyable stay using the site as a base for walking from in the beautiful surrounding countryside from the gate at the back of the site which is easy to miss behind one of the on site lodges. We stayed in the Tor View field staying in a tent. The field it self has amazing views. It was low season so we could pitch up pretty much anywhere and had the field mostly to our selves!

The staff, on entering were very friendly and as we were staying in a pitch without electricity, they even offered to charge our mobile phones when we had run out.

The facilities were clean and very well kept - we had a hot shower every morning.

It felt very safe and there were security barriers to get in, which you have to have a pin for, but my only concern was that anyone is able to walk in by foot.

There are plenty of water points around for cooking and washing up and freezers to put ice packs in.

You can have BBQ’s aswell which we did the first night for dinner.

We didn’t get round to using the pool but went to Weston super mare for the day instead, which is about 30 mins away by car. There are nice local walks which they can give you at reception.

Overall really enjoyed our stay and plan to camp there again!

Dear Deborah,

Thank you for your feedback and review. We are sorry to learn of your comments, I see from your booking that you booked an all service super pitch, one of our best pitches, with ouotstanding views. You also booked over the Easter bank holiday weekend, when rates do of course increase slightly, although your average nightly rate was very reasonable.

Pitches are certainly not crowded in our Park, maybe you felt it was just extremely busy it being a bank holiday?

We had live music on the Saturday evening, and there were families enjoying the great weather and long weekend.

We hope you will consider returning another time, maybe a quieter period would suit you more.

Thanks again for taking the time to give your feedback.

Upon arrival, fantastic first impressions of camp and staff. However my pitch was over 70% dried mud ( stone like) I asked if any other pitches available ( as all others were of lovely grass) and was advised not with electric, so pitched up anyway however was like camping on stones, very uncomfortable. Apart from that little down side our pitch and utilities on the camp were great, showers could do with updating, however were kept clean. It was extremely hot the Easter weekend, so very disappointed the on site bar/restaurant didn't open until 4pm, so no where to get some shade or an ice cold drink unless we left camp. I would highly recommend opening earlier, especially in school holidays. One other suggestion, we stayed on the Easter Thursday - Monday, and the only entertainment was on a Saturday evening 6-8pm, I would suggest on bank holidays having more live entertainment please, the day time easter bunny and arts & crafts were great for the kids though. Those small factors aside, I would be back again as long as the restaurant opened earlier! Thank you for a great stay....Read less.

the park is nicely situated for access to cheddar and wookey hole (it is part of the WH company)

We were in the log cabins at the top of the field so had the best views - we chose these rather than bringing our tents as we have not had much luck with the weather at easter previously!

the log cabins were more than adequate especially as they were only slightly more expensive than a tent pitch with electric hook up and were complete with everything we could need - (we only needed to brig food, bedding and towels) - we chose to bring our camping chairs and BBQ as we like to sit outside and the supplied wooden

chairs are not as comfortable for long term use.

the bar was useful - and the food was good (they had been caught out by the good weather and had a reduced menu and staff situation over the easter weekend)

the pool is quite small - but was OK for the kids for a splash about.

the only negative is that some groups were quite noisy at night and this was not dealt with. (one group started their outdoor party just after midnight and went on until about 4) - I realize the site cannot pick the clients but these were on well established seasonal pitches and so must have been known to the site....Read less.

We had a lodge with hot tub. We found the accommodation to be very clean, fresh and the bed was possibly the most comfortable I've ever had.

Nice set up & good for money. Staff onsite were very helpful, hard working and had great customer service.

Suggestions - more night lighting up pathways at night. Shop to be open at 8, not 9.40 as it was one day with no apologies. Stood waiting outside in the cold for milk. Could also do with a counter range of local eggs, fresh produce like bacon, bread etc & new papers to order. Maybe a bbq stand as part of the set up would be a nice finish.

Ran out of toilet rolls and not replaced in lodge - so had to buy 9 for the last day. Food was good, but lacked variety and other products likes salads or anything healthy. All fried. If nobody was in the bar it lacked atmosphere. Set up with pool table and getting around to the pool was also a bit odd. Needs reconfiguring.

On the whole a nice stay with friends and family. Due to doing most of all the attractions, won't be back next year but would recommend....Read less.

We were disappointed on arrival as the park was not like the pictures on the pitchup.com website. The area we had been allocated none of the grass had been cut and it was quite long to touch underneath of motorhome and caravans. When we pitched up we found dog shit on our pitch. We asked for this to be removed, we were told it would be but in the three days we were there no one came. No one oversees the park rules so we had dogs running around with no leads, loud music through the night and children in the pool during adult time jumping/ shouting and using balls. The location of the park is great - close to Cheddar, Well and Weston. The toilet block was fine, clean and warm. The children enjoyed the play area. Beautiful views and walks from the site.

However the main impression I got was that the site is a little untidy. The roads are all broken and pot-holed, and the caravans that obviously stay on the site all year round have piles of 'stuff' around them (stacked tables and chairs, pallets, one had a fallen-down awning) which just made the whole site appear untidy.

Also a little odd that the pub/restaurant shares the toilets in the swimming pool changing rooms! The floor is wet in there from swimmers and would benefit from having more than one shower, and a shower curtain!

Loved the location, and the staff. However needs some investment and a good tidy up!

We stayed in luxury 3 accommodation with hot tub. The caravan was beautiful and in a sucluded position. We had en suite to bedroom, dishwasher and towels provided for hot tub. Parking was next to the caravan, the own patio area was in the sun and the little touches were great, a caffetiere ( I love coffee) and homely items on the shelf. It was warm to and had great sofas space for the 5 of us. Staff were helpful and friendly.

My only negative was no changing rooms for swimming so 2 of my children wouldn’t swim, the play area for my toddler was small and muddy. The pool was okay small but fine.

Lovely views and the dinosaur walk behind our caravan was a nice touch. We hope to return to the same accommodation....Read less.

We booked for 3 nights during February half term! Our pitch was great! Staff were very friendly and helpful. There were a few grass pitches opposite us that looked very uneven so we were pleased we didn’t get one of those. Our shower block needed updating, the other block was much nicer but a bit far for us to use. Being Feb there wasnt any entertainment but we weren’t too worried about that! The indoor pool was open but a little small. The food in restaurant was very nice and beautifully presented!! We arrived a little after the kitchen had closed one evening and they put themselves out to rustle us up some chips, not many places will do that!!! A small shop on site but does have the essentials! We enjoyed our stay at Bucklegrove and would definitely consider staying again should we ever hire a motorhome in the future! Well done Bucklegrove!...Read less.

Dear Alison,

Thank you for your feedback and review. We are thrilled to learn you enjoyed your staff and found our Team friendly and helpful.

Regarding the shower facilities, these have recently been refurbished with new roofing flooring and decoration, they are also cleaned and maintained daily with regular intervals.

The electric supply is on a safety setting to protect our guests, therefore no more than two plugs are permitted at any one time.

Thank you again for taking the time to give your feedback.

Where we were pitched in the grove field it could do with being tidied up and made to look a bit nicer like the strawberry field is. The grove field just looked a bit scruffy and uncared for.

Our Team care for the Park facilities and areas throughout the year, mindful of the hedges and natural habitats. We are sorry if you felt certain areas were unkept, we work hard to achieve the opposite of that.

Your comments have been passed to the Park Manager for consideration.

Look forward to going back.

Honestly, overall it was good.

The pitches were level enough and toilets and showers were very clean and well kept.

GOOD points: Was able to enter even after book in and reception had closed.

Facilities were quite very clean and tidy, i.e - showers toilets, no rubbish on site, pools clean and tidy with no water splashed everywhere.

Cheddar is kind of central to many cool and exciting things to do, i.e- karting, Weston, farms and markets, cheddar coves, town centre, and many other site seeing locations, so this site was in the perfect spot.

BAD points: On arrival (around 18:30) we was handed a pack including reception and shop opening times, address, dinosaur trail, and the lodge restaurant menu (all on site). We were so hungry and after pitching up in the rain, we wanted to head to the restaurant.. but we found it closed, after talking with staff, ONLY THEN did they explained that the lodge was closed until the end of February. We felt robbed!! It listed the restaurant on the booking site as a main feature and DID NOT state seasonal opening times. We were told to find a local take out or restaurant, they did name a few but having young children we couldn't have walked there that late and the few takeouts that wasn't too far out, didn't deliver. We had to drive out and find food the first night and then find a local tesco to grab tinned food we could heat up on the gas ring on camp.

The shop was tiny.

The dinosaur trail was not worth the time or hassle, 40 second walk with a few 2 foot dinosaurs planted.

A couple caravans were packed with young friends/couples who stayed out in the hot tubs and were rowdy on the nights, was a little hard to sleep at first but that's expected on cheaper holiday camps.

Didn't go to the children's playground on site but we had a look and it seemed good.

In all i personally think this site would be amazing in the warmer weather when the lodge and all facilities are open.

Im mostly happy that it was quiet with not many people staying there and how clean it was outside, in the toilets and showers and in the swimming pool area.

It was cheap!...Read less.

We like Bucklegrove, and find the staff (in particular Keith) extremely helpful and accommodating. Communication excellent and can't fault the cleanliness of the caravans. Thank you for your feedback and review, however we are sorry you were disappointed with aspects of your stay.

We keep our website updated with bar and restaurant opening times, along with any live music we have scheduled. We have never had 'shows' at the Park, we are not sure where you may have seen this information? We do have live music, this usually takes place in the Spring, Whitsun and Summer holidays.

The toilet and shower blocks have undergone refurbishment with new roofing, flooring decoration. They are also maintained and cleaned daily, with regular interval checks.

The swimming pool is kept to the recommended temperature of 29 degrees celsius, we are sorry if you felt this was cold.

You visited during the Winter period, when the Park is quieter. We had Christmas decorations in Reception and The Lodge, we didn't want to over-dress the Park just wanted to give a feel for Christmas.

We hope you will consider visiting again in the future and thank you for taking the time to give your feedback.

Kind Regards,

Bucklegrove Holiday Park

We have stayed here previously in summer time. On this occasion it was a two night local getaway over the new year. This is where it's apparent that the lighting to the perimeter road is very poor for access to the toilet block and facilities, you need a decent torch as the tarmac surface is in a poor condition with pot holes and trip hazards. On a separate note the hog roast provided at the new years party was spot on. Will return again due to its locality to us....Read less.
