Unfortunately on first arrival at the site the owners were not around to let us in, although another guest was able to give us the code to get in. We had phoned the number left on the reception door when we arrived and left a message but unfortunately nobody responded to us. They did come and find us later when we had parked.

The toilet/shower block was clean but was looking a bit tired in places.

I used the swimming pool with the children. It was lovely and warm once in the water and the children had a great time.

The location is brilliant being really close to Wookey Hole. It’s a great base to explore the local areas and we had a lovely Sunday roast in the Westbury Inn just up the road.

Booked online via pitchup. Arrived about 8:30pm but no one around and no answer from the Mobile number On the door. However, help quickly arrived and we were allocated a grass pitch - completely unsuitable as very wet. Gave it a go but couldn’t get on with a motor home. I rang the mobile again - 2 times ansaphone and eventually got through. Very nearly left with nowhere to stay ‘pitchup shouldn’t have let you book - they’re always doing this’ followed by ‘ put it on the grass, we can tow you off in the morning’. Luckily, someone who was booked in a hard standing had cancelled. I say luckily because otherwise we would have been stranded with a 5 year old.

Food was good in the bar. Pool was good - one of the reasons we booked - and my little boy lived it.

Lots of reviews say Sunday lunch not to be missed. Unfortunately it had to be as there was a big notice saying the bar was closed for a private function so shove off......

Toilet facilities were ok but some bits were broken and water was either warm or cold - no in between. A bit pricey for just one night but location was handy....Read less.

We appreciate the park is under new management and our comments are constructive and should not be taken as a criticism. The only comments really are the menu choices (cost and the move away from 'pub grub' to more up market fare) and the children's activities appeared to have limited timings and my children really missed more Halloween type activities like trick or treat, ghost walk, and activities for older children. Overall I would possibly stay again but am less likely to go for the superior pitchs that we were on as we found them pricey for what there was for the money. Lay out of the pitch seemed to cause confusion and the neighbouring pitch regularly park in the wrong place and we had to ask them to move as it would leave us no wear to park which got a little frustrating. Over the facilities were good but the one noticeable bug bear for ourselves and just about every parent we conversed with was the pool. Please improve the heating in the building in general. If your going to have the facility then it should be comfort for all. For the cost that should be a given. However the area was stunning and we loved chilling out and enjoying it and I really must applaud you for the Halloween party. The kids and adults all enjoyed it and for that reason alone we would definitely consider coming again....Read less.

Staff were friendly and helpful, I can't comment on the facilities as The Lodge bar and grill was closed during our stay (only opens weekends out of main holiday season) and we didn't use the swimming pool. You do get a voucher for 25% off Wokey Hole entrance fee which is well worth a visit and the town of cheddar is only about 5 miles away where there is plenty of pubs and shops and things to see and do. The cabin was a really good size, lovely comfy bed, evetyhing u need, toilet facilities a short walk. The park was quiet so we had no problems with the shower blocks or washup. However they are quite small so could see them being a little problematic when camping field is full, however they were very clean

Ideally situated between cheddar and wells, the facilities were nice, food in the lodge inn was excellent and fairly priced as was drink. If you are in the area then a visit down the road to the cider barn is a must do.

We arrived late on site, due to being nervous towing for the first time and the weather was awful. We had our 2 year old withus and our three dogs. I had a great stay at Bucklegrove. I was only passing through the area and in terms of 'just a place to crash for a night' this was so much more than expected! Staff were extremely helpful and kind both in email correspondence and upon my arrival. I was in a campervan and had a pitch selected for me, which was great - perfectly flat with a grassed and gravel section, and with screens of trees/bushes on 3 sides for privacy. I was only 3 pitches away from the toilet block which was fantastic. Unexpected facilities included hair dryer in the women's, and fully equipped kitchen sinks with tap for drinking water. The atmosphere of the place was lovely, from my pitch I looked up the hill slightly to where the caravans were located, which gave a real community feel. Sadly I don't think I'll ever be back as I'm an Australian only here on holidays, however if I were back and staying for longer I'd definitely go back to Bucklegrove....Read less.

We had a lovely stay and made use of all surrounding activities I.e cheddar caves, Weston and burnham.

The caravan was fantastic very clean and comfortable we also made use of the hot tub which we payed for with the caravan.

The only thing we where a little disappointed by was the pub grill bar was not open in the week and as we booked Monday to Friday we didn't have to opportunity to have a meal/drink when on the park. This may have been better if we wanted to pop for a drink without driving of the site. Even just one of the days so we could have planned a meal there. We arrived at Bucklegrove Monday 11th September to be told the bar and restaurant were closed until Friday the 15th. We picked this park because of the restaurant and bar due to there being no other eating establishments within walking distance so were very disappointed, It states on your web site that the bar and restaurant were open until October. We were given a pitch on The Grove and again were very disappointed with the overgrown hedges and general condition of the site. ~The toilet and shower facilities on the Grove left a lot to be desired and were scruffy and dirty. The swimming pool was acceptable but again the shower facilities left a lot to be desired!!. Were very disappointed with the site and felt like "the poor relations" compared to the static caravan part of the site and would certainly not recommend to anyone....Read less.

We were attracted to the park due to the location, it is ideally situated between Cheddar and Wells and does have beautiful views. We were disappointed by the quality of the site however, the layout is such that touring caravans and tents appear that they are on top of one another, with little space between rows and pitches. Fortunately we did have a good spot. The wash facilities are inadequate for the size of the park, badly in need of updating and more importantly were not cleaned well, despite the cleaning schedule on the wall being ticked twice daily.

Despite this, although mainly due to location and weather, we did have a fantastic holiday. There is a good pub just down the road too!...Read less.

Stayed in a cabin for three nights. Accommodation was clean, well equipped and the mattresses for the bed were very comfortable. our accommodation was very close to the swimming pool, bar and restaurant and toilets. It was nice that there was a children's play area right next to the bar/restaurant so you can sit outside and see your children play. We had Sunday lunch and it was lovely. Definitely worth the money! The washing up facilities were nice and clean. The children enjoyed the family bathroom available for baths, maybe a bottle of disinfectant spray available for you to wipe the bath out after use would have been nice. Showers and toilets were clean and nice. There's a little shop onsite which has pretty much everything you need, if not the site is not far from a Sainsbury's and a Tesco express. Close to wookey hole and other attractions although plenty to do on site. We will definitely be staying again....Read less.

We enjoyed our holiday here. There are fantastic views from the campsite, and the pitches are kept neatly.

We had some great days out at Glastonbury, Bath, Bristol (balloon fiesta - it was fab), Wells, Weston Super-Mare, Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole and even Camelot! There are plenty of good walks in the area (we used the AA circular walks guide), and we visited the seaside too.

The campsite while neat and tidy, with well laid out pitches, felt a little cramped - with no open spaces for the kids to play (perhaps we have been spoiled by previous camp sites). There was the Tor view field, but we could not go on there with the dog. The field was mainly caravans with a few serviced pitches for tents - the nearby water supplies for our pitch were based on other campers pitches - throughout the week they were frequently hard to access due to the occupiers of the pitch blocking access with their tents/cars.

The children's play area would be good for very young children, but there wasn't anything suitable for our 2 (aged 12 and 9).

The swimming pool is quite small and was spoiled on both occasions we used it by noisy children jumping and flipping into the pool. The pool was unsupervised and children have to be accompanied by parents - as these children were.

There was a pub and cafe on site - but we did not use these so can't comment. There is a nice shop on site, and roadside fruit and veg sellers nearby.

The staff are all very friendly and helpful.

We enjoyed the short woodland path through the campsite.

I think the facilities let the camp site down a little. For ladies (and children) there were 3 toilet cubicles and 2 showers in the field we stayed in - which was not quite enough for the number of visitors so there were frequent queues in the morning. The alternative block served more campers and had alot more toilets but only 3 showers so there were queues for the showers here too.

The toilets were cleaned twice a day, but sometimes during the day the cubicles could have been a little cleaner - possibly due to the high number of children as we were staying in school holidays.

The windows of the ladies toilet cubicles also opened onto the dishwashing facilities - which I did not enjoy at all!

Having said this about the facilities I would consider staying at the camp site again in the future....Read less.

Although we had a nice time at Bucklegrove we did feel perhaps some areas were a little tired and in need of updating, in particular the shower block and washing up facilities by the G pitches. They are out of date and consequently give the appearance of being dirty. The facilities nearer reception are much nicer. Also we felt the G pitches were too close together, which meant we could hear the other campers - especially those who were up late and had no consideration for others.

Had a lovely meal in the restaurant which we thought was good value.

One thing I would say is, from reading the information on the website, Bucklegrove gives the impression that it is not altogether dog friendly. "No dogs inside, outside, around or near the café, bar, swimming pool or play area". Before our visit we were worried, for example, that we would not be able to watch our daughter in the park if we had our dog with us. During our visit we found the site to be totally dog friendly. We took our dog (as did many other people) outside, around and near the café, bar and play area. It is, of course, perfectly reasonable to ask the dogs not to go inside these areas....Read less.

Had a very pleasant week and not too crowded when we arrived. Pitched two large tents at the top of the field with a fabulous view over the countryside. It was peaceful and relaxing to be able to sit outside the tent on an evening after a day discovering the local area.

The facilities were adequate for our needs. On the occasion when children had been into the bathrooms and littered with toilet rolls and rubbish, it was sorted within minutes of mentioning it to reception.

After arriving back from a festival on the Friday evening, we were shocked to see how full the field was clearly for the good forecast of the bank holiday weekend which meant that there was a longer than normal wait for the facilities although additional portable toilets and showers had been put on.

Certainly would consider using again avoiding the bank holiday weekend though!...Read less.

Whilst the park is nice and clean and ideally suitable for families who want to have an enjoyable family break, as I have three old boys there were no play areas for children above 12. If there was a sectioned play area for sports this would accommodate the older children. In addition, a dog walk run would also be useful for dog exercise.

My main negative issue was the club, we were over charged by £7.25 at the bar, when queried the bar member of staff was reluctant to accept as she had added up on a calculator and the gentleman working with her even supported her rather than offering to justify the charge. When rechecked and confirmed the over charge, no apology was offered by either member. Asked about speaking to manager but not one available. The caravan (number 37) was bigger than expected, and immaculately clean (we appreciate how hard cleaners work, and how little positive feedback they get, so do please thank them on our behalf), we were extremely impressed even before we found the posh TV and DVD/Bluray player, TV reception is not always great, but we brought DVDs with us.

The patio area is something we've never had before in other caravans, but with the fantastic view to the south, I can't help but feel that it's at the wrong end, changing it all around, however, might not be a viable option, and it was nice to have as well as useful for drying towels, my kids have never been swimming so often, every day they used that pool!

The shop was a bit pricey (we went to Waitrose instead) and the vegetarian options were, at best, limited. Oven chips, peas and a lonely pack of Linda Mac burgers. It seems endemic to most shops west of Portsmouth, even the massive Sainsburys in Street had a tiny vegetarian section last time we went there.

We found that the pitches were very cramped and the children's play area tiny. We choice to stay on the park as it had a security barrier and we had to leave the caravan unattended for one evening. Unfortunately the barrier was not working and therefore not secure as we had thought. The children's play area was tiny for so many children, young and old so the younger ones couldn't play happily. We will not be returning which is a shame as we had great hopes when we looked at their web page....Read less.

This campsite is located very conveniently in-between Wells and Cheddar. We stayed on the Tor View and really enjoyed the space and views from here. However, as we travelled with small kids the toilets were a bit far. Some electricity connections at the sides of this field would provide added value. Our kids loved the small, indoor swimming pool as the temperatures were too low for outdoor swimming. The price is quite high compared to the other campsites we stayed during our holiday and apart from the swimming pool, the facilities are quite limited....Read less.

This site is in a great location, with easy access to fantastic local attractions such as Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole Caves, Glastonbury Tor and Clarks Village (retail outlets) amongst many others. The site itself was quiet and peaceful which was a relief as we have young kids. Booking-in was simple, and the staff were very friendly and had info and everything ready for us. The pitch itself was flat and easily accessible and not too close to others to feel crowded despite the site looking fully booked.

Great little bar on-site with a menu that looked good, although we didn't get a chance to eat there. Kids play area a bit small, and think the children would have got bored with it if we had been there for more than 2 nights. On site shop was expensive though... Wash facilities were clean and well looked after.

Only issue we had was with the pool, which felt dangerously overcrowded. There are no lifeguards on duty which is fair enough, but it felt like an accident waiting to happen as there were many children swimming without adults. The changing facilities were also filthy and I couldn't bear to use them.... Was a bit of a let-down as used to visit as a child and had good memories of it and it didn't look as though it had been decorated in the 25 years since I last swam there!!!

Despite this (and am sure it would have been a better swimming experience if it had not been high season on a soggy day!) I would recommend this site, and was delighted it was the positive, gentle introduction to camping I wanted my children to experience, so they want to camp again. Thank you....Read less.

Our pitch was very small and too close to other campers. There were no boundary markings between pitches and on our first day we witnessed 2 campers having a row over where the new arrival was pitching his tent.

Noisy neighbours talking till 2am. No wardens to uphold noise curfews.

There is no outdoor space for children to have a good run around or kick a ball about so we had to endure children running between pitches in the camping field.

The onsite bar was ok but we didnt order food. The park outside the bar was too small with hardly any equiptment and again, no space for children to run. Older children were sat around chatting and looking at phones! Not really what a park is intended for.

The Grove field, shower temp dial was broken but only realised after undressing and stepping into a cold jet of water.

Toilet cubical windows opened onto the dishwashing area so not very private.

Overpriced for what you get. Most facilities are just a half hearted attempt so they can be listed on the website to make it sound good.

Here's one. Woodland walk-sounds fab. In reality a bit of a gravel path and a few plastic animals dotted around the trees that can be completed in 30 seconds!

Dont be fooled by the hype. Looks lovely on screen, the reality is much different.

We only stayed for 2 nights but wished it was longer. A lovely park and the kids loved the swimming pool. Our pitch had lovely views.

We ate in the Lodge twice, and really enjoyed it both times - good food, great service and happy to make adjustments for the kids. The vegetables that came with the meals were a highlight for me - a nice selection (not just the usual carrots etc) and perfectly cooked, just what I wanted. It shows that someone in the kitchen cares about the whole meal! I was surprised it wasn't more busy, but that worked for us. I would recommend trying it.

The swimming pool was great, although the changing rooms could be bigger.

The shower facilities closest to us were a little dated, but perfectly adequate and kept clean. I didn't check out the other block but it looked more modern from the outside.

The onsite shop was useful and had plenty of pocket money priced toys.

All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful.

Positioning on this site is all important. It is a lovely site with good facilities but there is nowhere for older children to let off steam ie. an open space and the surrounding roads are not suitable for walking or cycling being narrow and bendy with stone walls so nowhere to go if a car comes. We went with two 17 year olds and a 13 year old and there was nothing at all for them bar the free wi fi which was excellent but not what I wanted on holiday. We were sited right by the lovely play park (quite rightly for for under 12s) which was incredibly noisy and busy all day, and also right by the bar which was noisy till 10.30pm. Both fantastic facilities for parents with young children but not for us. We had an incident where parents were encouraging their very young children to run races at 10pm in the dark, a toddler ran into the back of our stationery car and broke the brake light including smashing the bulb - goodness knows how he wasn't badly hurt. Having said that, I would return to this lovely site armed with this knowledge and make sure I had a pitch in the top field - I might leave the teenagers at home too!...Read less.

Getting to the site involved travelling along some narrow roads , not a problem to an experienced caravanner, once there and pitched up there were no transport problems. We went basically to visit Wookey Hole caves ,which we did. We did not really use any of the site facilities ie childrens playground , Swimming pool etc as we are in our seventies. We did however visit the Bar thinking that there may have been some sort of entertainment but found that the entertainment was only on Saturday . One other thought was that the Food in the Bar was over priced, Whilst having a drink in the Bar we were not happy to find children climbing over the settees and sitting on the backs of them ,when it was noted that we were watching them their parents asked them to stop it,which did not last too long .Our Exit was soon after. We did visit the Bar on the Saturday Evening to watch the entertainment, we arrived at approx. 8.15pm which is normally a good time on other sites ,We were absolutely flabbergasted to find at 8.30pm the artist was packing up her equipment (Singer) . One Good point ,by staying on the site we did get a 25% discount to the caves....Read less.

We are glad you got to the Park ok - there are lots of direction signs and it is an A-road which brings you to the Park.

The Lodge Restaurant has been recently refurbished, with a brand new menu, so we appreciate all feedback about this. The live music this season took place every Saturday night between 6.30 - 8.30 pm, this was promoted from Easter time, so we are sorry if you missed this information.

Also pleased to hear you visit Wookey Hole - we are lucky to have such amazing things to see and do in our area and hope you got to explore further.

We enjoyed an enjoyable week at Buckle grove. The staff were friendly and the amenities clean. We camped in Tor View which was non electric and pitch where you like. I personally would have hated to have pitched elsewhere as the serviced pitches appeared very close to each other, both camping and caravans The main site felt a little over crowded.. The pool was open 9-6 and as most people are out during the day this didn't offer much chance to use it. The children's play area is aimed at younger children. The site is well placed for local attractions and supermarkets. The food in the lodge was good and the atmosphere welcoming. All in all we had an lovely break....Read less.

Thank you for your recent review. The field you camped in has a slight slope to it and is used during our busy summer season, in fact it has some of the best views from the Park, far-reaching to south Somerset and the levels.

The toilet and shower block are located out of this field, which have actually been redecorated this year, along with new flooring and new boiler. Being an outdoor holiday, there will always be an element of bringing the outdoors in, regarding little bugs, however our Team clean, check and maintain all facilities daily, ensuring the best comfort for our guests.

I booked this site based upon proximity to Wells & gallery images of the touring area.

I now know that the images are not representative of the entire touring park.

We stayed in Grove 106 - a scruffy unkempt area surrounded by unmaintained roads and hedgerows. The pitch two down from us near the water tap looked like an area of wasteland.

We can assure you our publicity images used are all from Bucklegrove, in fact taken this year by a photographer. We are sorry if you felt they were misleading, we feel they give a true to life picture of what our beautiful Park is like.

When booking your pitch, there are of course different options, including standard and super pitches. These are all clearly stated on the booking websites.

The maintenance of the Park is a daily job, with grass cutting and general ground works. We are also mindful of the natural habitat and wildlife and ensuring we adhere to the hedgerow regulations.

You mention you used us as a base for your stay, we are ideally placed to explore the local area and our county of Somerset, so we hope you enjoyed your time in the area.

The park is nice and quiet, the pool is OK for a short stay, but the facilities for older children is very poor, the play park is for young ones and the grass next to this which would be a nice place for the older children to kick a ball etc has tent pitches put on it, and extra outside seating, so the park really does not take into account the older children 8 plus. The outside bar area which is the only place you can sit if you have a dog is partly covered - enough for one table, considering there are many outside tables without cover - extending the patio area with cover would give better seating options. The park is clean and tidy and well maintained. The showers are very nice - would be helpful if a small corner shelf was put up in the changing part of the cubicle so you have somewhere to put glasses / a watch etc as the bench with holes in is not sufficient for this. The park is in a great location for both Cheddar and Wells. The only thing is that I have stayed at parks with more to offer the older child for the same price or even less, I do think this park is over priced for what you get. On a whole we loved this park. As we were looking for a peaceful chilled out break we certainly got that. We didnt use the parks shower and toilet facilities as were staying in one of the lodges which was amazing with its own hot tub. We found some of the cupboard and fridge handles were a bit grubby but other than that the lodge was outstanding. We took our two teenage children with us (who didnt want to come home) so didnt use the play area or the swimming pool as they preffered to play on the big field to the side of the park and go in the hot tub. We found it easy to travel around from the site so its a good location for sightseeing. Apart from needing a code to get in through a vehicle barrier access the park was easily accessible by foot and apart from the cctv cameras by the entrance there didnt seem to be any other security. The shop was a little overpriced and understocked but we found a sainsburys a few minutes drive away.

We would definately come to this site again and our teenagers want to come back!

We will be booking the lodge again in 2018 and have recommended this park to our camping friends....Read less.

We asked , if we can get another place, but there was no way! The woman in the reception was not very friendly an so we had right at the beginning a problem. Later there was a more friendly men of the staff and helped us to bring our caravan in a good position. But it took about 2 hours!!! Not a good beginning! :-(

The toilets and showers could be more modern, especially on the "Grove". And there is no socket for a hairdryer.

In summary we can say it´s a nice and quiet place in a great landscape but there a some things to do.

We stayed Monday to Friday in early July so some of the facilities like the lounge bar were closed until the weekend which was a bit disappointing, but is expected due to the quietness of the campsite during the week.

We had a large pitch with electric a short walk to the toilets and showers and it was more than adequate for our large tent. The onsite swimming pool is a nice addition to cool off in in when the heat got too much although it was a little cold for my partner. 1. Cabin could do with a paint they are looking very tired albeit structurely sound.

3. Double gas burner - possibly time to invest in a new one! Worked but very rusty!

We camped recently and have the following feedback which I hope will help in making improvements as it does have the potential to be a great site. Unfortunately the following things really did spoil our visit so we are unlikely to return at the current time:

* There was dog poo on our pitch right where we needed to pitch our text, so before we could do anything I had to find a bag to dispose of it. The pitch was also covered with cigarette butts.

* The wash blocks were outdated and unpleasant to use. Each time I went in there there was urine around the toilet on the floor and some awful smells coming from the cubicles. It needed a good bleach and a very good airing!

* The smell from the changing rooms between the inner and outer door to the swimming pool was absolutely awful and there was no working light so I had to get someone to stand with the exterior door open so I could actually see to put the code on the indoor door. The ladies changing room shower also had no working water when I tried to shower after swimming.

* The steps on the ladders to get into the pools were wobbly, particularly the ones on the inside of the small pool and both I and my children nearly fell in and hurt ourselves! They're really very dangerous and should be replaced or adjusted so that the steps are no longer loose.

* There were very loud noises coming from a TV from half a field away from us until after midnight and the campers weren't particularly nice people! It would have been good if a member of staff could take a quick late-night wander once in a while for the benefit of campers who would like some sleep and don't want to have confrontations with their neighbours.

On the plus side the man we dealt with working on reception was incredibly friendly and welcoming, so first impressions were good. It really is a shame about the other things though because we plan on camping in the area regularly (and my parents are looking for a nice site to buy a new static caravan) so first impressions were that we'd found somewhere with great potential....Read less.

Each morning a site check is carried out and a tidy and clean up done ready for new arrivals. There is always the chance that areas require a further clean up, so spot checks are also carried out throughout the day. Also any reported feedback from guests is acted on, and we would happily have cleared this for you had we known.

We stayed at Bucklegrove during Half Term holiday in May 2017.

We had a fully serviced pitch for our motorhome. The pitch was level'ish but still required ramps to get closer to level.

We were located within direct eyesight of the children's play area. I was so glad that we were not the poor souls who were adjacent to that area since, as you would expect, children do not play in silence and they are there from first thing to dusk. We spoke to a family who were immediately adjacent and they found it very overwhelming and lacking in privacy.

For us, our annoyance with this play area was that the kids also played football in this area and our motorhome was frequently bashed with a leather football since the 'goals' (water bottles on the floor) were in front of our pitch. The Wardens did come over to tell them to get a lighter weight ball but the heavier ball was soon back. It is a shame that there's not a dedicated area in the massive camping field that's adjacent but, apparently, that's a football free zone! This is my only real criticism.

Other than that, the facilities are good. The pub/clubhouse has a good food selection which is good value and presented nicely. The pool is not massive but, choose your time wisely, and it's not too busy either. 9am - 10am is adults only time, supposedly.

We enjoyed our stay and may return sometime....Read less.

We stayed at Bucklegrove for three nights, the reception and strawberry field looked clean and well maintained but we were in the over spill field the grove which needed some TLC, the shower block had two showers and only one worked properly for a whole field of campers and i'm afraid they wasn't the best cleaned if cleaned at all. I also found Bucklegrove campsite no good for very young toddlers, most sites have a 10pm quiet down time so you can get your children off to sleep but unfortunatly it was too noisey, i know everyones on holiday but when it is surposed to be a family site you would think there would be some kind of policy. We loved the site, facilities & it's location but unfortunately its clientele let it down. Our first night was entertainment night at the small club house with a small playground opposite. This was extremely loud but at least finished around 8:45pm. Children as young as 3 ran riot whilst the parents drank more & more at the club house. Unfortunately this was a reoccurring theme just without the live entertainment! The screams etc of a large gang of children persisted every night until 10:30pm. After checking in we made our way to our pitches. My husband and I had difficulty parking the caravan on our pitch, for a number of reasons:

Overcrowding – the tents opposite our pitches had parked their cars in the space we needed to manoeuvre the van into place. They kindly moved them for us however my in-laws had to take their van off the car and use the motor-movers

There was a birch tree ¾ of the way in meaning we couldn’t reverse fully into the pitch. The overgrown tree was hanging all over the caravan and awning to the point we couldn’t open the skylight, and had to wash the sap from the roof of the awning before we left. We don’t mind trees, but not in that close a proximity

We had to leave 1-2ft between the van and hedge to access the water/waste etc, but the hedge was so overgrown that this wasn’t an easy task

By the time we had put the awning up we had about 2ft between it and the hedge (also overgrown) on the opposite side

The car had to be parked immediately in front of the caravan/awning which wasn’t a problem as such, however considering all of the above issues we now had nowhere to sit out or for my three young children to play safely

All of the above points apply to the pitch my in-laws were on too

I addressed the pitch size to the gentleman in the office the day after we arrived and he did look to move us to an alternate pitch but there were none available. However, even if there had been we were already set up and the upheaval with young children would have no doubt added to our frustration.

The general size of the pitches across the whole site are small with no ample space for sitting out, children to play around the van etc without being sat on top of the tent/van next door. My small children were playing on the road in front of our van, there was no room whatsoever on the field opposite as it was crammed with tents and vehicles. In fact, there was so little room outside of our vans that we ended up going out and about away from the site every day and weren’t able to just sit by our vans and enjoy the sun.

The facilities were less than adequate. The toilet and shower areas were not clean – in fact I don’t think I saw anyone cleaning these areas during our whole stay. The shower water was luke warm and we decided not to use these and stick to the better facilities and hot water in our vans. The facilities in the pub were just as dismal; dated and unclean and unfortunately left to the lady behind the bar to tidy up at one point. Having the toilets and the swimming pool changing area all located in the same area is just not practical; dodging pool users who are trying to get showered and changed whilst all the while pub customers are in and out to use the toilets giving them no privacy whatsoever.

The food in the pub was very tasty albeit late in arriving, cold and missing key ingredients! We ate in the pub on two occasions. The first time I was told there was a 30 min wait on food. After 40 mins I queried how long it would be until our food arrived. After 45 mins the lady asked us how we wanted our steaks cooked. So all in all we waited approx. an hour for the meals, not 30 mins. When they arrived parts of the dishes were missing; eggs, garlic bread…. The second time we ate, the food arrived and all of the veg was cold, not even luke-warm. We sent it back and on its return the veg was piping hot but the meat cold! We ate it anyway, we were starving!

To summarise, I chose your site as the website seemed to offer all of the facilities we needed and appeared to offer plenty of space and rolling green grassy areas…. In reality this just wasn’t the case and the pictures are very misleading, and of course left us entirely disappointed....Read less.

We stayed for 4 nights and had a great time from start to finish. We stayed in one of the new caravans which was very cosy with everything you need for a comfortable stay. My son had a great time he made lots of friends and they played on the playground and football on the big field. The club house is great and even thought we didn't try the food this time, lots of other family commented on how nice the food was. There has been lot of little improvements since our last stay the beach mural around the pool area is lovely. We will be booking again very soon :))...Read less.

We had a great couple of nights at this site. The pub food was really yummy and big portions. It was lovely to have a drink and watch little one play in the park. The live music on Saturday was good, we didn't go, but could hear it from our tent. It stopped at a reasonable hour.

The pool was clean and got very busy. Our 3 year old did get a little cold.

All in all great family stay.

I visited Bucklegrove with a group of friends.

Firstly, I booked three pitches next to each other and when arriving found out that the pitch 120 was no longer my friends although I had booked it. There was no explanation either. But luckily it didn't ruined our weekend.

Secondly, the bathroom . The shower was ridiculous. There was no pressure from it only a drip and the water wasn't even hot. Having a cold drip for a shower really is not pleasant and is almost a put off from coming back.

I like to keep clean. It wasn't exactly cheap to stay there so no excuse for a shower that's cold and has no pressure....Read less.

When booking a pitch we endeavour to meet any requests, however this is not guaranteed. We are sorry if this caused any upset.

As new owners to the Park, we have invested in huge improvements and changes, one being new boilers for the toilet and shower blocks. Your comments have been passed to the maintenance team to look into, as no reports about this were received at Reception.

Our prices for 2017 have remained at 2016 rates - no price increase. We feel we are priced accordingly and in line with our local competitors.

When we arrive staff were very welcoming and understanding of our very late arrival. When pitched up we had a look around the facilities to find they were very clean and modern. The campsite was a little bit of a let down. The facilities were really very basic and often ran out of loo roll with no spares to be seen. Main block near reception was better. Camping area was quite small and the 'road was a little ropey. I can deal with all that.... I'm all up for basic when Camping! What annoyed me was being told we could sit outside at the cafe with our dog BUT to get there we had to walk through a no dog zone... so how were we meant to get there. Thought we would just go to the shop instead.... No way would I buy anything at that price! Crazy hike in prices!

Luckily we still enjoyed ourselves, not going to let silly bugbears ruin a break.

Cheddar is beautiful and so dog friendly, will definetly visit the area again but maybe sample some other campsites....Read less.

Thank you for your recent review.

We are new owners to the Park and really do appreciate feedback to further improve our services to guests.

We are currently replacing old signage with new, in particular the signs stating no dogs allowed. We have relaxed this rule and require dogs to just be kept on a lead. We are sorry for any confusion.

The toilets are checked, cleaned and maintained daily, and throughout the day. Toilet rolls are usually left in abundance, however we are sorry if this was not the case when you entered. We do act immediately on information given to us by guests at the time.

Our pitches are usually enjoyed by guests and comment that they find them spacious and roomy.

We really hope you will consider us again in the future, more investment is being spent on the Park and we very much hope to see you again.

Thank you for taking the time to give your feedback.

We cannot praise the site enough, very clean & well kept. We used the pool, lodge for a drink, showers & toilets and the washing up facilities, we had a jumbo pitch for our tent. It was quiet and what a good idea to have a space where dogs aren't allowed, we love dogs - well behaved one's & nice not to be kept awake with barking. The staff friendly and helpful. It's situated in a lovely spot in between Cheddar and Wells. We enjoyed sightseeing in the area to both the above, Bath & Glastonbury. Have already recommended & will most definitely return. Only things that we could really suggest is that as you are clearly expanding would be

1. More bins to put rubbish in rather than walk all the way down to the entrance.

2.Signage for chemical waste points as the bottom Strawberry area didn't appear to have any and had to ask where it was.

3.One way system and clearly marked/painted on the tarmac? People appeared to be going in and out both ways of the Strawberry Area and when you meet another tourer its a bit tricky with lack of room to manoeuvre.past.
